Pease will someone help me find a navy dress and some wedge sandals for a christening?

I ordered the Lucia dress that someone linked to a while back from great plains but it was too big and they are sold out of other sizes I struggle to find dresses that suit my sahpe as I am tall, very slim on top with small chest and arms but have got a big tummy, large hips, bum and thighs. Not sure what shape that makes me I seem to fall between catagories! Knees and below are fine.

Anyway I would love a navy dress that flattered my shape, can be navy with a floral pattern but I would ideally like it to go ok with my new green cardigan that I got yesterday and love. I also would like some wedges but really really low ones as I am 5.10 already and have a toddler to chase. Can anyone help? TIA!

Have only looked at Monsoon, which is good for length, what's your green cardi like?

navy dress

would go with green cardi

patterned but not floral

reasonably priced

traceybath · 26/04/2009 15:47

boden option

may be too casual but would look nice with your slim arms

just in case you're really rich the netaporter option

quite pretty from oasis

kew - this one could be good

gorgeous in the flesh

The netaporter one is a joke by the way

Thank you Tracybath and Woodenchair, something similar to the third Monsoon one and the first Kew one may work but would need to be thicker material I think otherwise I wuld look pg.

I hadn't considered a shirt dress actually but that could work if it was smart enough, they tend to be quite flattering on me maybe because of the buttons dow the front as long as not too fitted.

Sorry forgot to answer your question woodenchair, the cardi is jade green, crew neck waist length, quite lightweight. I do have quite a selection of cardigans so I suppose I don't have to use that one. I've just seen that the Great plains dress is in stock in medium, may ask to exchange the one I've got rather than a straight return. Not sure if it will make my hips look even widre though as it kicks out more than I realised. I wish I could just try the dress on in a shop rather than all this messing about with ordering different sizes but nowhere stocks it near me.

picked just because it was very different from the others not sure it is navy but would suit a smaller chest

I love this but is pricey

navy floral but not sure of shape for youwww.next.co.uk/shot.asp?extra=sch&b=G34&p=116&s=4&n=Women& pid=463-549&exclude=00AY00%7c00A00&returnurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch%2enext%2eco%2euk%2fsearch%3fp%3dQ%2 6lbc%3dnext%26uid%3d605277311%26ts%3dv7%26w%3dnavy%2520dress%26af%3dgattgender%3afemale%26isort%3dsc ore%26method%3dand%26filter%3dsubset%253a1907%26nxtv%3d000%26nxti%3d0&bct=%26quot%3bnavy%20dress%26q uot%3b%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bFemale I think this is too informal but it would pick up green in yor cardigan]]

coast option

navy floral from coast but am not sure about the pattern

hobbs spotty dress I would look ridiculous in it but someone graceful could carry it off not sure about the shape but you did say shirt dresses are OK

eyecatching!!

nice neckline on this one from hobbs but think the material may be too light for you

twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 17:05

prett dress for slim upper torso

used2bthin · 26/04/2009 20:08

Twinsetandpearls thank you for the links they are great I hadn't thought of Hobbs or French connection. I was looking at them all and think I have worked out why a lot of dresses don't look nice on me other than the tummy thing and I think I am long waisted-if that is a shape?? The waists always sit too high on me then draw attention to my stomach poking out underneath! I love the last one (French Connection) so am going to go and try it on I think.

I like the Next wrap one too but it would depend on the waist being in the right place, could be ok or could be awful.

Has anyone seen any low wedge shoes? They would need to be tan or brown or metallic maybe? Or navy I suppose.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 21:07

No problem am on a break so will check for shoes.

used2bthin · 26/04/2009 21:08

Oh thank you twinsetandpearls, just thought, purple could also work if I end up wearing the Lucia dress (if it fits and if it arrives in time!)

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 21:16

low tan wedges, tan are always good as you can wear them with anything and they make your legs look longer

maybe too high

purple wedges but you would have to watch for colour mismatch

used2bthin · 26/04/2009 21:21

Oh thanks twinsetandpearls, I love the purple ones, are they just an online shop do you think?

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 21:24

vivaladiva are an online shop I use them quite often, very safe.

used2bthin · 26/04/2009 21:33

Ok thanks will have a looks through. More than I want to spend ideally but always fun to look at a new shop

In fact just noticed your other thread in active convos, double thanks for helping me with dresses and shoes when you must be really tired! Hope your DD feels better soon.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 26/04/2009 21:41

It was a good destresser!

used2bthin · 26/04/2009 21:44

Tell me about it, I am worrying over clothes when I should be worrying over my DD's appointment tomorrow. Distraction is often best I find

used2bthin · 27/04/2009 17:00

Thanks Sandychick, I really like that but don't think my thighs or stomach are up to it sadly.
