Help me buy some new shoes!

I have just found out I one a free pair of Hush Puppies through MN but seeing as how my normal shoe purchases are based on how cheap they are at the supermarket I am completely flummoxed.
I am SAHM who works 1 or 2 days a month in casual office mostly wear jeans, but am trying to wear my skirts out of the house more too.
I normally wear flat shoes or slight wedges but am willing to wear slightly higher heels.
I want something lovely and pretty and smart.
Help?!

Or do I buy boots as they are free and save them until autumn/winter?

(shamelessly bumping)

I'd go to a shop, try on all three, then ask for whichever was most comfortable. But then I'm a bit princess-and-the-pea when it comes to shoes

Congrats on the win by the way; what a lovely dilemma to have

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:17

hmm, I suppose as wedges go these are ok...but I wish we could see the front

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:17

these don't look too hush puppery

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:18

I think the ones you chose JB are too safe and mumsy.

Montifer · 25/04/2009 21:23

Lucky you! I've always found Hush Puppies really comfy and worn them for years until they finally fall apart.
I'd go for your 'choose boots and save them 'til winter' idea.
Like the boots you suggested and these too.
Think these are nice if you are going to go for shoes.
Happy shopping

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:27

I would push the style boat out and go for a shoe boot

JackBauer · 25/04/2009 21:31

thanks, that's my problem mrs m, I have truly no idea!

Going to a shop is not an option, I would have to take DD's who are not shop friendly, hence the reason I never buy nice shoes!

I do have large calves, but am trying to lose weight, so am a bit nervous about buying boots in case they never fit!

I don't like those gladiator sandal things and am not convinced by those wedges as they look a bit too summery I woudl prefer something I could wear all winter too, amy as well get my --free- money's worth.

Can I wear shoe boots with skirt without lookign like a twat?

OP posts:
mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:45

Yes but not in the summer. They look great with tights/skirt, or leggings/long tunicy top, or skinny jeans/long cardi/top when its colder.

JackBauer · 25/04/2009 21:54

Actually, to completely change the subject, if I am a size 20 can I wear leggings/short dress/tunic?
As I have a few dresses/tops that I don't wear as they are too short!

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:55

Do you have good legs? If so, then of course.

mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 21:58

this sort of shape looks good over leggings, as do wrap dresses

JackBauer · 25/04/2009 21:59

legs are ok below thigh but a bit large on teh calf. They are all in proportion though!

Dh is insisting I get teh knee high boots as they are more expensive

OP posts:
mrsmaidamess · 25/04/2009 22:01

Tell him they won't go with his jeans.

JackBauer · 25/04/2009 22:20

he says you are not funny.

I beg to differ.

Any more opinions?

Am trying to decide between these comfy for days in park, which is where I spend most of my time, or walking round office, or driving

or these which are lovely but not so practical for driving/park etc.
