OP says it all!
Lots of the clothes I try on which would be fab on a young, tall slim person make me look frumpy. Any ideas for work and leisure as well as holidays - so anything really!

Im short and an ample sized fourteen, and I always find that next clothes fit quite well, not terribly exciting though.....and I was in there today, first time in ages weve had any spare cash, could not find anything at all that I liked!! LOL I am very helpful...just dindt want you to to unanswered

ooooh I tell you where else I unexpectedly found really nice dresses that fit me really well, Laura Ashley - much nicer stuff than I expected, pretty prints and nice bright colours. I think they are very expensive though, but you can get some good deals in the sales!

Could you try working out a "look" for yourself? I always think neat, slightly vintagey, 50s styling looks good on the smaller amongst us. And that kind of look doesn't have to be frumpy either.

So with jeans, you'd dress it up with neat shoes, T-shirt/shirt, waist length cardigan/jacket and maybe play up the reference to irony and fashion with 50s-style accessories.

Do you get the weekend Guardian? I always think Jess Thingy's column ("How to wear it") is really good.

Maybe someone will be along with more suggestions later.

thanks both. I used to like Next but find nothing fits or suits these days. Yes, get weekend Guardian, I do have my own style so know what I want but struggle to find clothes that fit, look ok on someone of my age and size and that I like!

Hello - I'm the same as you and I can't find anything that fits either. Next looks good on the hanger but I find it looks dreadful on me. I live in either floral tea dresses (last years cheap viscose ones from Tesco or Asda)with a long skinny cardi. I always get compliments and people say I've lost tons of weight (which I haven't). Linen floaty long skirts with a black fitted t shirt. La redoute knee length shorts with fitted t shirts.

I used to have really good legs when I was younger but I've found that now my legs are a big chunkier very high or very low heels don't suit. I try to wear wedges and mid heels.
