I am going to a summer formal ladies night and need a long dress to wear.
I have a couple of long black dresses and a purple halterneck i have worn before to the same event and would like something different.
I would like a bright colour, I am 5ft 7 and a size 10-12.
I have looked at monsoon, debenhams and next but dont know where to start really.
Maximum spend £100 but ideally/realistically cheaper if possible.
Only shoes i have for going out, black.
help

I don't think you can wear black shoes with a bright dress, that's the thing - can your budget stretch to shoes as well?

ilovetochat · 23/04/2009 20:01

only if dress is cheaper to allow for them, sorry.
can anyone help?

always up for a challenge.

You want long, right?

LetThemEatCake · 23/04/2009 20:32

there

and money left over for metallic shoes. Gorgeous, and summery to boot.

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 23/04/2009 20:42

This is rather gorgeous:

I REALLY like this (plus the very good price), but it's out of stock in your size online:

LetThemEatCake · 23/04/2009 20:45

possibly too casual but could be made less so with the right accessories - and again, money left over for shoes

ilovetochat · 23/04/2009 21:19

florence, i love the orange one, shame not in my size, not keen on the other one, too much attention to the boob area.
since bf my boobs are gone.
letthem, i cant see your links sorry.

Shame about the Wallis dress. This has a lot of va-va-voom and is in stock in a 10 and a 12:

I am including the following as (even though it isn't bright) it is very special and just within budget as it has 66% off. I have a beaded dress like this and I always feel wonderful in it:

Sorry, the first one is the wrong dress! This is the one that I meant to link to:

ilovetochat · 24/04/2009 14:23

i love the pink jane norman dress thanks, thats a definite possibility. the other one is lovely too. both expensive (well for me) but may have to spend that much if i cant find anything less.

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 24/04/2009 15:55

Glad you like that one. I will keep an eye out for something cheaper.

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 24/04/2009 16:31

Okay, not sure if you are into pattern but this is good value at under £50:
