wow - spent £50 in Primark today and...

bought home some decent stuff, almost worth the trauma of shopping there (although trying not to think about appalling labour conditions etc - although I have tried to redress my fashion manufacturing karma by buying some pricey designer things lately)

Am 18 weeks pregnant, so don't want to spend ££££ on everyday maternity clothes (don't mind splashing out on good stuff, but not to have ds's sticky paws all over ta very much)

So bought a bunch of tees and tanks a size or two bigger than usual, a couple of prettier tops with the all-important empire line, a really cute pair of flat gold sandals, a gorgeous blue dress with kind of an Aztec detail trim (think that this, with the gold sandals, may be my new favourite outfit!) , a long flowy skirt, 3 bags, a hat - 14 pieces in all I think.

Am feeling quite chuffed, although still shuddering from the actual shopping experience...

Good idea to budget when pg

BUT remember your feet are not pg( mine never changed) so buy shoes...

Flibbertyjibbet · 22/04/2009 16:06

Yes but if you weren't pregnant you'd be taking it all back tomorrow when you discover its all cheap badly fitting tat.

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2009 16:54

do you know what, I am wearing 3 of my purchases today - £12 dress, £8 shoes, £6 bag and have been stopped by complete strangers telling me how lovely my outfit looks!!

The sales assistants in mamas and papas were positively cooing over my dress, and couldn't believe that it was Primark .. (a canny sales pitch, I hear you thinking ... but no... the circs were not at all like that)

I do feel very pretty, unusual for me. And I am a netaporter freak.

i have some gorge summer skirts from primark, still wearing them 2/3 years on. one looks exactly like a french connection one I have that cost 4 times the price.

shhhh · 22/04/2009 19:21

I agree letthem...Im usually into designer items BUT also have found primark in the last few weeks and I love it...

IMO its nice to have some cheaper items that will be out in a few week/months and their stuff is really eye catching.

I have bought a few tracksuits for lounging around in at home and also a few tops. I to have had lovely comments while wearing them.

LetThemEatCake · 22/04/2009 19:30

the woman who takes the music class that I take my dc to on a wed afternoon said that I looked like a model!!!

A £26 model!!! Love it!! no one has ever said that to me when I've been not-pregnant and wearing a Chloe LBD!!!!

Primark is fab - they never seem to have queues if you go midweek in the morning. Saturday is hell where I live

shhhh · 23/04/2009 21:20

Just we have spoken before about wedding dresses...you wore the dress I saw and loved...I didn't go for the dress in the end, had one made and settled with the lilies in my bouquet .

You have good taste .

LetThemEatCake · 23/04/2009 21:59

no no I knew that .. just wondered why you thought I'd changed my name.

I love that wedding dress so much - still!
