Does anyone know somewhere cheap for birkenstocks?

Or a cheaper alternative? I could do with some comfy flip flops that I can walk in, not really long distances but a couple of miles at a time. I wear flip flops all summer and am fine with the between toes bit, its more that I'd like something with a thicker sole.

TIA.

TK Maxx had some at the weekend for £19.99 if that helps?
Havaianas are good too.

Oh thanks Haylstones I will pop in there hadn't thought of them. Are Havianas comfy? They look very flat and thin is it the type of rubber or something?

I don't know what makes them comfy but they are! They're not that thin and are sort of ridged along the bottom so don't go all sticky and yucky.

used2bthin · 21/04/2009 14:23

Oh ok, sounds good! I need to find somewhere in town to try some on I think then order cheaper online.

If you have a Costco near you, they are selling cheap Birks at the moment. £17 for Madrids (plain flip flop type), £23 for Gizehs (with toe thong thing. And in all colours.

used2bthin · 21/04/2009 20:59

Thanks for the link ggirl, think I will try on some different types when I can next get to the shops. Minko that sounds great, we haven't got a costco nearby I don't think but I will have a quick google now to check as I have never heard of it so may be wrong.

schuh do cheaper versions of birkies but not as long lasting IME

wolfnipplechips · 22/04/2009 08:17

Amazon had loads cheaper some of the colours of the cheap ones are a bit and ebay but don't buy 2nd hand ones as they need to mould to your feet to be comfortable. Worth every penny IMO, so comfortable.

higgle · 22/04/2009 09:52

If there is a Mastershoe shop near you they have all sorts of ethnicy looking shoes and sandals at really good prices

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 22/04/2009 10:08

I think Next do good copies.

Drusilla · 22/04/2009 10:12

I bought some birkie madrids on Amazon for £19.99 a few weeks ago.

used2bthin · 22/04/2009 13:42

Thanks for the replies, good to know that they are so comfortable. I am going to have a look in tk maxx tonight. Also for something to wear on my bottom half, jeans with a turn up or something, anything as I am wearing jeans I bought when DD was three months old which are much too big!
