Because all these appliances are cons! I have every single hair-curling thing on the market and have never failed to produce either a) the vaguest hint of a wave, that falls out as soon as I leave the house or b) a head full of frizz.

One day I did my hair for work, and knew it was bad when I said to my friend "I'm really not sure about this hairstyle" and he said "Thank GOD you said something, I've been wondering all day what the hell was going on with your hair!"

should i have gone low tech and got the bendy rollers?

How are you using it Lulu? I have very straight hair but I can get a pretty decent curl with the youcurl (GHDs better though)

just follwoing the instructions but failing miserably

the problem is that you are reasonably intelligent.

you therefore were at the back of the queue for the eight arms to be able to handle the hair appliances!!!

you aren't missing a knack, you are missing a live-in professional hairdresser.

These things always remind me of those amazing kitchen appliances that are demonstrated on stands at shows or in department stores - the demonstrator has the only one with sharp blades that really work, all the sale ones are fitted with blades that might as well be made from aluminium foil, for all the good they are.

use ghds

spray with some form of setting spray
half way down the hair clamp a section about an inch wide
hold the ghds vertically and pull the hair through
leave curl to cool move on to next section

when finished turn head upside down and run fingers through curls

et voila

great tousled curls

very good !!

but none of this is helping me achieve tousled and gorgeous curls

you know i am crap at hair maintainance, at least i have not dyed it a mad colour or singed it again

I can't work mine either... I end up twirling them tight afterwards then holding them inbetween my lips as I work 'round, then let them all go at the end. It looked so easy on the ad! [sod]

that sounds as though it works like running gift ribbon over scissor blades to create curls - is that right?

lulu, flame cannot for some reason do hair straighteners.

I think it is something to do with arms, and brain ability.

I for instance cannot do DS downloading, or anything remotely PC like that requires sense, but I can do hair thingies.

I think she was in one queue for abilities, I was in the other.
