So, what's the alternative to jeans and a glam top for a night out these days?

I'm bored by this combo -what do you all wear for a night out with the girls without going too over the top?

falcon - I wasn't suggesting she should wear the same sort of thing ! I'd already confessed to being OTT and she did ask

merlin · 16/04/2009 21:35

Fishnets!!! That may be just a slight step too far for me!!

lol figment i missed that

mileniwmffalcon · 16/04/2009 21:40

doesn't have to be actual fishnets, you can get loads of crochet type patterned tights that are interesting without being trashy (although be sure to check well that they don't look like varicose veins from a distance )

I'm old ish and I wear leggings and a longer top or tunic/dress out instead of jeans
can dress up with heels and cool jewellery or dress down with ballet pumps for day time going out

MadameCastafiore · 17/04/2009 08:12

Leggings and long tunic top?

OrmIrian · 17/04/2009 08:19

I have a wool knitted dress from Uniqlo. Long sleeves, quite fitted, short. I wear it with boots. It's a bit dressed up but not ott. I love it. I don't do glam (tops or otherwise) so if wore jeans it would look very dull.

MamaHobgoblin · 17/04/2009 09:00

Do you reckon you have to have very slender legs/be 17 to get away with the leggings-and-long-tunic combo? I'm still looking pretty post-baby (13m on ) and while legs are ok below the knee, I'm not sure about massive thighs... Haven't worn leggings out of the house since 1994!

ClareintheCommunity · 17/04/2009 10:15

the thing is that leggings can look like pyjama bottoms
