Boots of my dreams, but fat calves - is it possible to reduce your calves?

Don't make me send them back - i LOOOVE them. I have always had big calves and hence have never found a pair of knee high boots i like that fit. Even wellies were a nightmare to find. I spied these [http://www.shoe-envy.co.uk/Fly_London_Detail_Black_Boots_p239.html mmm boots] and thought i may be able to get away with it, as they are tie up.

Alas, although i can get them on, i run out of lace as they have to be laced so wide, also the tongue isnt wide enough to cover my leg near the top of the boot. OOhh im so embarrassed.

so, what i want to know is - if i lose weight, im about 3stone overweight will some width go off my calves???? hoping against hope....

(ive trawled the net for fat calved boots, but can find nothing i like, even in Emotion or Duo - its these or nothing!)

Can't you buy longer laces?

giddykipper · 14/04/2009 21:18

I feel your pain.

BitOfFun · 14/04/2009 21:18

I would think that losing weight will help tbh. My boots are much tighter when I'm having a fat phase

TrillianAstra · 14/04/2009 21:19

DP says they are kinky boots.

Can I watch this thread with you? I am not overweight, but my calves are mahoosive (and thighs too, but nothing else ). If there's anything that can be done short of liposuction I want to know about it!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 14/04/2009 21:21

buy boots that fit your calves

Samantha28 · 14/04/2009 21:21

your Dp is right, they are kinky boots. my DP would love 'em

but he also has fat calves

giddykipper · 14/04/2009 21:22

TBH mine were worse when I was fitter and more muscular.

Now there's an incentive to be a lazy git.

TrillianAstra · 14/04/2009 21:23

The annoying thing is if iit weren't for having size 9 feet my DP would fit into women's boots better than I do. His calves are muscled but slimmer than mine

What gorge boots! Agree try longer laces!! Also if you do lose weight (what an incentive~!) chances are you may well lose bit of calf - good luck

pooter · 14/04/2009 21:26

oh poo - i thought if i started rujnning again i would magically be able to wear them.

and i am about to throw a toddler style tantrum - so near and yet so far.

Yes, i could buy longer laces, and perhaps paint my legs black, or wear black tights - yuck i hate tights.

Trillian - if you find a cure tell me!

I bloody love these boots.

How about binding your calves like a geisha

pooter · 14/04/2009 21:30

oooooh, some votes for losing weight!!!

my dh says that it will be well worth putting them on display to keep up the fitness push.

sadly, i think this just may work - do i really love my boots more than my future health and longevity?

Im glad you like them Clure! Its a complete change for me, im usually in sensible Joseph Siebel things.

Hmm, calf binding - is there a market for a calf equivalent of spanx, those magic knicker thingys??

Yes they are fab and you must keep them. I would love a pair but as a vegan I don't buy leather. Wonder if they do them in plastic??!!

What about those elasticated support tights you get for long haul flights. Wonder if you bought a small size and cut the bottom leggy bits off.....

Clure · 14/04/2009 21:47

I'm a veggie, usually very strict, but after years of making myself miserable about feeling guilty, i decided that i should do what i could, and not stress about the rest. If i really followed my principles i would be like you Clure. Good idea about the flight socks, but where does all the squeezed flesh go? Would there be an unsightly 'muffin top' over the top of the boot?? Slightly ruining the effect i was going for

Clure · 15/04/2009 09:22

leg muffin top - yikes!!

BobtheWoodmouse · 15/04/2009 09:36

My calf size is definitely affected by my weight, even 7 pounds makes a difference with some very fitted boots of mine so I reckon with 3 stone to play with, you could fit your dream boots and they would be an incentive to lose weight. Keep them on display as a work of art until you fit them. Maybe incorporate some stretching exercises, ballet/yoga style to 'lengthen' your calf muscles as well as running etc.

pooter · 15/04/2009 20:14

bob - that gives me hope! thankyou!

thats now the plan - i will admire the boots, try them on once a week until the happy day they actually fit
