Facial scarring

Does anyone have any tips on facial scars.

A few days ago I received a wound to my cheek - it's currently steri-stripped and I don't really know what it looks like! I was told it may leave a faint scar when it's eventually healed.

Does anyone have any tips on how to help healing to minimise scarring.

Bio-oil.

Pierce a vitamin e capsule (highest strength you can get) and apply directly on the mark.

Apparently moisturising the scar daily is a very good idea.

Bio Oil

Keep it pliant. For a non-petroleum jelly which is very mild, melt 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 teaspoons of beeswax - microwave or bain marie. As it cools it will thicken - whisk in contents of a couple of vit e capsules, and if you can get blue chamomile essential oil up to 10 drops of this. Just don't let it dry out till all the healing's done. (Lot cheaper than bio oil and can also be used on children )

Thankyou sounds good!!

2 more days till the strips come off, a bit nervous about how bad it is.

My son cut his face open last year and had to have stiches. The nurse told me that the best thing to use to stop it scarring is Aqueous cream, what they advise on the burns unit. She said don't let anyone tell you Bio oil! I used a combination of Aqueous and Vitamin E oil. As someone else said, the main thing is for it not to dry out and protect it from the sun aswell.

Rosehip oil is supposed to be excellent as is..wait for it...emu oil.

Have a google of everything & see what you fancy.

Bio oil is doing great things to a scar on DH's leg. Bit spendy mind.
