I used to until I was about 20, then I just wore them for bed.
To be honest, it's so long ago I scarcely remember...

DSM · 07/04/2009 17:22

sea.. interesting point of view.

My DS has all sorts of little band t-shirts, and he also wears little converse trainers, aviator sunglasses and cool hats.

I am not trying to be cool, I am cool

Seriously though, he wants to dress like mummy and daddy. Why would I dress him in clothes that are so completely different from our style?

EdwardCullensWife · 07/04/2009 17:27

No t-shirts but I do wear a Red Hot Chili Peppers winter hat and a Kaiser Chiefs cap.

MegBusset · 07/04/2009 18:18

Have to agree with SEA, I think it's tacky when I see LOs in band T-shirts (unless they are old enough to have picked them themselves).

It's a bit like when my sister bought a Clash 'London Calling' T-shirt from Topshop or wherever, then admitted she'd never even heard the album!

MadameCastafiore · 07/04/2009 18:22

Nike - but only for running!

lumpsdumps · 07/04/2009 18:40

Sounds like the parents want kids like fashion accessories instead of children. My dd who is 12 has a blondie t shirt but she listens to blondie alot. Dressing a toddler in band t shirts is just stupid.

MayorNazeNotWithChoccyEggs · 07/04/2009 18:44

dd2 is 2. she has a guns and roses tshirt.

every time she puts it on she shouts "rock and roll."

i think she looks cool

dd1 has an acdc shirt

DP (50) Roxy Music and Eno.
Me (52) Status Quo and Dr Hook (not in front of anyone trendy though)

DSM · 07/04/2009 19:08

lumpsdumps - why is it stupid? Thats a bit harsh.

My DS genuinely likes listening to rock music, he has been brought up on it anyway, his current favourites are Johnny Cash and Kings of Leon. He has a big Warhol-style canvas print of Jim Morrison in his room that was given as a gift when he was born. His Dad and I are both musicians.

I have never stepped foot in a Next or Primark (or wherever people buy childrens clothes) though I do get him things from H&M sometimes, they have good, cheap childrens jeans. I buy him clothes from shops I and his dad get clothes from. Why is it 'stupid' to dress him in something that is so different to what his parents wear?

lumpsdumps · 07/04/2009 19:24

So you are dressing your child like that because it's cool and because that's what you and your partner wears and that's he sees you wear? My husband wears band t shirts because he likes the bands and he's been to every concert. I can't see the point of dressing kids like their parents, that's sad. Then again I am talking to somebody who thinks it's cool to take drugs, what more can I say. Shallow, very shallow.

MadameCastafiore · 07/04/2009 19:27

Sorry just read this again and can see that it says band and not brand.

No I don't!

DD has a Camp Rock one on today - it is vile - am going to let her take it to XHs as I know I will never have to see it again.

lumpsanddumps -

You obviously have a personal issue with me here anyway, so lets try and put that aside for the sake of this discussion, shall we?

I also wear band t-shirts because I like the bands. Many I have seen live, some were sadly, before my time but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate them. I don't think you have to have seen a band live to be a fan.

I don't think it is sad or shallow, TBH. Do other people dress their children in different 'styles' to themselves? Why? Surely if the shops that you normally go to for your own clothing have childrens clothes, you will buy them from there?

There are a few lentil-weaver type families at my sons nursery - their children dress in similar clothes to them. There are some WAG types, their children tend to wear designer style clothing, there are some Boden-type mummies, their children wear Boden-type clothes.. I didn't think that dressing your children in keeping with your own 'family style' was sad or shallow, I thought it was normal.

Do you dress wildly differently to your children?

FWIW I have never said taking drugs is 'cool'. Nothing of the sort.

hotcrosspurepurple · 07/04/2009 19:59

i have a hot pink Keith Flint one, and a Jeff Buckley one, bought for me from dj tees about 5 yrs ago.

I don't wear them anymore, because I do feel too old for them, I have just truned 40, and I now prefer to dress 'like me' but not in your face with the love of music thing iyswim.

They are round necked and just don't flatter my size anymore.

dd has a Beatles t shirt, she's 7. She wears is occasionally, and yes i have thought hmm maybe thats a little self indulgent on my part, even tho she does love love the Beatles, but it was me who parted with the cash!! It's a women's size 8 so will hopefully last a while tho!

I went to see Elbow recently, and was tempted by the t shirts but thought 'nah' I can be groovy in my own way, becuase that's what suits me best.

harleyd · 07/04/2009 20:03

oh wow i love that site
sadly most of my kids are weird and love hsm and hanna somebody

i mostly wear band t-shirts and vests

DSM · 07/04/2009 20:04

Oh thank you purepurple!

I've used a similar site in the past, but this one looks great! And I just got a new job so time to treat the DS I think

hotcrosspurepurple · 07/04/2009 20:07

you are welcome DSM

Tn0g · 07/04/2009 20:24

I'm, $), and regularly wear a vintage Blondie T-shirt that belonged to an ex- boyfriend and a Sex Pistols T that I stole from my h.

Oh, and I sometimes wear a Pogues T-shirt in bed.
