I am going to Ladies Day at Ascot have never been before and am going in the posh enclosure. I am really looking for to it but what do you wear? I have seen some creations in the paper recently for the start of the racing season and am shocked at how awful most of them look, dare I say mutton dressed as lamb! ]

I am not a lover of the loud prints that are around at the mo, they look great on skinny young things but not on me - they make me look like something from the chelsea flower show! I do love the maxi dresses am quite tall so can wear them.

So what to wear when you are 44 5 7 and about a size 18 bottom, 20/22 on top. I want to look smart and stylish - any ideas? thanx

Strict dress code at Ascot - see here. You need sleeves and not too short a skirt. A suit and hat is perfect. No fascinators.

Less posh area dress code here www.ascot.co.uk/royal/royal_admdre.html

I know and that is going to be hard. The hat is easy. The shoes are easy but I need to wear more then that. We are going into the Royal enclosure too so need to look fancy!

What colour do you want to wear? I'd wear something like this this and make it more interesting with nice hat and shoes.

Am very as I love horse racing.

Lucky you
This sort of style should suit you, it is a lovely colour as well:

These are lovely! I'd be wary of cleavage on the middle dress...

BitOfFunnyBunny · 08/04/2009 11:30

You might want to avoid some of the Aintree horrors [snobby emoticon but I am allowed because I live there]

Lizzylou · 08/04/2009 11:32

Nah, Lady, I'd wear a wonderbra to maximise cleavage.
Then I would have somewhere to hold my pint and pork scratchings.

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 08/04/2009 11:35

I can't believe you have to wear trousers of same colour and material if wearing a trouser suit... I thought that website was a spoof at first!

I think I will have to start practicing my curtsey
