Shoe advice for dodgy feet

I'm hoping you ladies can help me out.

I'm 33 and an ex-dancer (unfortunately not as skinny as I was so you'd never know ;) ) but my dancing career has left me with problematic feet and very definitely feet that should be kept hidden so as not to cause public offence/scare small children.

I currently live in DM boots (not the lace up kind, the newer fashion styles) and Converse trainers, and keep buying other shoes only to find I can't walk in them.

I have bashed up toes that are painful if any pressure is put on them and beginnings of arthritis across the joints. I also have a high instep that makes some styles impossible to put on (can't get my feet into some boots) and needs support.

I want to find nice summer shoes I can walk in (I walk a lot) but that don't look like 'sensible footwear'. I have wasted so much money on trying to find shoes that don't hurt and don't mind spending a bit if I can find something that really is comfortable. Any suggestions as to shops that would be good to try or particular styles would be great. I run my own business and can be fairly casual, but would like to try and look a bit smarter in meetings - I like White Stuff and Fat Face and still buy a lot of stuff in Top Shop if that gives some idea of what I like to wear.

Have you tried Clarks? Boring but comfortable. Jones the bootmaker are not bad, not too comfy though.

these are worth a try, I got a pair a few weeks ago and haven't taken them off since!

They have a rubber sole which makes them exceptionaly comfortable, I feel I could go out running in them.

The black patent looks great, but they also come in white and purple.
