I'd like to get my ears pierced

I live in SE London, near Greenwich, but I could travel into central London. Could anyone recommend a good place to go? I'm pregnant at the moment - should I wait until I've had the baby? Thanks.

Any decent piercer won't do it while you are pregnant because of the (very small) risk of bloody poisoning.
Avenit in Orpington is very good - I recommend them.

If there's a Claire's Accessories near you they will do it quite cheaply (as long as you don't mind being in a place full of young teenagers )

Go to a proper piercing place that will do it with a needle. Those piercing guns are more likely to cause an infection as they force the pointy stud through the tissue.

A piercer will use a needle and proper piercing jewellery, you should get a neater hole and won't have to put up with a pointy stud poking you in the head until you are able to change them! Also the training a piercer will have had far outweighs the quick instruction a kid in Claire's will have been given!

agree with rach, go get it done by a professional.

not sure if it's wise to get it done pregnant though, might be better to wait til baby is born

This is probably a stupid question but how do I find a piercer? I've never noticed one around here.

Try the Yellow Pages. There may be a dedicated piercing studio or a combination tattoo/piercing studio.

I'd also agree that needle is the way to go rather than guns (as used in Claires and some jewellers)

Disenchantegg3 · 05/04/2009 12:24

DON'T get it done at claires, they are SHOP ASSISTANTS who have done a crappy day course, not professional piercers.

They use a gun there, you need a needle for it to be quick, painless and precise.

Many tattoo places also have good piercers.
Avenit tattoos in Orpington is good. Jesters on fiveways by Eltham is also good.

Thank you. Eltham isn't too far away. It will be my post-baby treat!

My DD had hers done at Miss Selfridges in Selfridges/Oxford Street if you fancy a trip into town!. Very professional.
