So what do I wear for a mid September wedding?

Something summery (in the sales hopefully) or something autumny?

Is it better to go for a dress or separates? I am tall and a size 14/16.

Very important I look glam and outshine vile SIL. Am already feeling stressed about the whole thing!

trying to find out if there would be an interest in a maternity clothes online shopping service which would also include bringing the clothes to the mums home specialising in tall, petite and outsize fashion?

Ok...

What colours do you or don't you like? Are you happy to have your legs on show? How are your arms?

What's the budget?

This SIL you want to "outshine", is she the bride? If so this should do it!

I like blues/greens - 'spring' type colours. Don't mind legs up to knees. Not keen on upper arms. Would probably spend around £100. I'm just not very good at doing 'glam' - tend to live in jeans, so wouldn't want anything too OTT (although love the net a porter dress!)

SIL is not the bride - I don't like her but would never be so mean as to try and outshine bride!

This green Monsoon dress is pretty. It stops on the calf on the model but as you're tall it would probably be on the knee. You could cover upper arms with a short sleeved shrug. Monsoon have lots to choose from here.

Monsoon have quite a few nice dresses in at the mo in greens and blues so it might be worth you popping in to your local store and trying lots on to see which style you like best. I love this and this but because my boobs are quite big I can't wear a high neck line. If yours are too then you'd probably look best in v necks, crossovers or scoop necks. This dress shape would be good for showing off a good cleavage but disguising large hips and thighs. This dress would be great on an hourglass figure.

Pretty blue dress from Great Plains. And another.

Green shift dress at Wallis.

A little over budget but how do you feel about yellow?

Thank you. I am loving some of those Monsoon dresses so will get myself in there to try them. I have an irrational aversion to yellow (maybe not quite so irrational as I don't think it looks great against my insipid pale complexion).

Although I don't have big boobs I do have broad shoulders so I don't think high necks look great on me either.

Thank you for your help . Do you agree that summery is the way to go even though it will be mid-September?

The weather is usually good in September. IME the sun comes out as soon as school starts again, so I'd stick with something summery.

Amandoh · 04/04/2009 20:18

Yes, go for a Summery. September is usually a nice month.

Glad you liked some of the Monsoon dresses. I don't know how you feel about 2nd clothes but there's lots of Monsoon dresses on Ebay. Normally the dresses have only been worn once and are in brand new condition.

Keep us posted as to which dress you buy won't you.

Oh yes, wellies. Very Joulesesque!
