Any ideas what would look very smart (but neither of the above), is reasonably priced and where I can find it.

Cheers

A sailor suit? Mega cute.

tassisssss · 26/03/2009 20:06

lovely things in jojomamanbebe I love these though would do plain t-shirt under not shirt

Or lovely beige linen shorts (Next usually have) and a short sleeved shirt?

It helps that we're Scottish so my ds generally wears a kilt.

CMOTdibbler · 26/03/2009 20:09

I got a lovely beige linen suit from Next on Ebay - looked gorgeous with a white linen shirt. It was like this one

lalalonglegs · 26/03/2009 20:09

Long shorts in navy or grey (tweed/thick flannel if winter, cotton drill if warmer) with shirt and jumper/tank top. Very cute and can all be worn again separately. JJMMBB is a good place to find such things, or try John Lewis and Monsoon or look up those brands on ebay.

h a ha hilarious...i thought it was a themed wedding and you had to dress like a chessy snooker player...and i was a bit imaging velvet waistcoats and fags and lots of product in one's hair...lol lol

sorry i cant help!

milkysallgone · 26/03/2009 20:12

Thanks all, these are giving me some great inspiration. Love the dungarees but perhaps a little too informal.

OOh am liking the shirt/jumper/shorts combo idea. The wedding is 4th April so I need to think fast!

I was loving the idea of a snooker players costume for your DS. Well if you are going to have a misspent youth, you can't start too early.

beansontoast · 26/03/2009 20:14

what season?
is he long haired and boho? short and smart? blonde and blue eyed? dark and handsome?

milkysallgone · 26/03/2009 20:16

Oh beans - my darling little boy was all long haired, floppy boho until fecking dh came along and butchered his hair when I was out

nickymorris · 26/03/2009 20:16

Ooooh - perfect. Thanks. Was going to post the same question as the OP!! Just ordered in indigo :-)

georgimama · 26/03/2009 20:18

at your DH.

DS is blond floppy haired - DH has declared a ban on haircuts for him until after our summer holiday. He wants a little boho beachcomber!

milkysallgone · 26/03/2009 20:21

oh yes and the best bit? He gave him a (albeit small) mullet!

I always get DS's wedding/posh do outfits from Monsoon. They have linen suits so they look smart but a bit cool. They have them with waistcoats too. Team with a funky bright shirt......

This

with this

this

and this?

DS then usually wears the waistcoat with a shirt and jeans to parties or the shirt and jacket or the shirt and kecks.....

beansontoast · 26/03/2009 20:26

i think ...and am going to look for (but i am rubbish at this), a round neck cotton jumper, long shorts, cute socks(poss striped if dull enough) and sandals. i love boys in t bars.

don't hold your breath!

(we recently had to cut ds hair...he looks better for it!)

ingles2 · 26/03/2009 20:30

Last summer I dressed my boys in black pinstripe suits from BHS with t shirts underneath and black converse for a wedding. They looked cute but cool.
Have a quick look on my profile. Ds2 had a black longsleeve tshirt with a robot on.
It worked well because once the formal bit was over they whipped off their jackets and were casual.

ingles2 · 26/03/2009 20:32

word of warning on the linen suits....
my nephews had beautiful expensive linen suits on. Within 1/2 hour they were really crumpled and covered in grass stains from rolling on the grass!

malfoy · 26/03/2009 20:33

I recommend www.cyrillus.com

milkysallgone · 26/03/2009 20:33

Your ds looks so cool in ingles. Not sure ds at his age could pull that sort of thing off though.

Marthasmama · 26/03/2009 20:36

Yup converse, think scrummy David Tennant as Dr Who. Office have loads of lovely colours in at the moment.

MadMazza · 26/03/2009 20:37

Milky, I've got an outfit from Monsoon that my son wore to his baptism. Trousers (navy cord), shirt (grandad-style collar) and grey cable knit tank-top. he only wore them once and won't again. I you're interested I'll e-mail you a photo tomorrow and check out sizes. The trousers are 2-3 years. Not sure about others but can check tomorrow.

tassisssss · 26/03/2009 20:37

He's 2. Go for the dungarees, they're super cute! He can wear suits for the rest of his life!
