here

look it is TWENTY QUID

and I am going to some swanky ass wedding in July and need something that isn't from New Look

I am nearly 40

also I would need something over it to cover flabby shoulders

what do you think - is it nice? or am I just excited because it is twenty quid? I know I don't have to think about this till July but IT IS TWENTY QUID PEOPLE

cornsilk · 26/03/2009 18:51

No I don't like it. Even for 20 quid.

janeite · 26/03/2009 19:04

I suspect it would be very stiff and rustly in the flesh and you wouldn't be able to stand near any tealights or you'd go up in flames. I do think it's pretty though and if it was silk it would be nice.

nancy75 · 26/03/2009 19:06

i like it. i have bought lots of stuff for dd from that shop and its all really nice material.

MrsMcCluskey · 26/03/2009 19:07

I like it - might buy one myself!!
ANd I am nearly 40 too!

Flamesparrow · 26/03/2009 19:09

Think it would gape on the chest no matter what shape you are

ReallyReally · 26/03/2009 19:31

hmm... chest gapiness

but if I tried it on and it was hideously gapey I could send it back yes?

I do think it is pretty

with a thing on over obv. Are shrugs all gone and over now?

It is shocking - go and try stuff on in the shops - debenhams maybe and get something that you really like and that fits.

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/03/2009 19:35

I think its lovely - beautiful colours

Lizzylou · 26/03/2009 19:37

I love it, those colours would suit me....

Sadly the straps would not!

samsonara · 26/03/2009 19:41

You may need to try it on, satin is not the most forgiving fabric. Picking up on on eof the colours like the purple in the border for a cover up could work. It does however look like the sort of thing I would expect to find in New Look, sorry.

brimfull · 26/03/2009 19:42

vile

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 26/03/2009 19:42

BHS have some really good dresses @ the mo' - was in there last week sorry, don't have link - if you can stretch to £35.

ReallyReally · 26/03/2009 19:44

bhs?

honestly?

OP posts:
traceybath · 26/03/2009 19:44

i'm afraid i think it looks like it cost £20 and i'd be scared to go near any naked flames wearing it

Why so against new look - they've got some nice dresses coming in at the moment as have h&m and dorothy perkins worth a look too . . .

woodenchair · 26/03/2009 19:48

I like it nice colours gives lots of options for shoes and jewelry. Like you say if you don't like it you can send it back

ReallyReally · 26/03/2009 19:52

I have looked at all the dresses on the Debenhams site now and I am bored by them

or they have weird odd net skirts

OP posts:
JustCallMeGoat · 26/03/2009 19:54

vile - the summer sales should be in full flow by july just wait.

i am going to a swanky ass wedding in july too!

samsonara · 26/03/2009 20:02

I'm going to a swanky ass wedding in May, and I'm wearing a dress with a netted skirt . There's nothing wrong with the shops like New Look and Bhs, it's just a question of finding what you like and what suits you. Matalan have lot of wedding guest dresses at the moment but they are mostly prom style

Amandoh · 26/03/2009 20:21

"100% Polysilk" - Static?

It's very pretty but I've found that bargain satin-alike fabrics tend to cling in all the wrong places and become increasingly static as the day goes on.

This dress is just £18.00! Obviously at £18.00 it's not real satin either but you won't have the same static problem with the fitted style.

Lots of shrugs to choose from at Phase Eight and Coast. Lovely jewel colours at Monsoon.

daftpunk · 26/03/2009 20:22

100% awful
