handbag

I need a new handbag.

I splashed out and bought this one a few weeks ago and the strap is already coming apart. It's going back this afternoon and I will be getting my money back.

I need one with a long strap or that can easily go on my shoulder and stay there for times like the school run where I have a child on each arm and bags to carry.

I want a small-ish one as I already have a nice bigger bag. I like to keep my small purse, small wallet, phone, tissues, tiny notebook, pens and not a lot else in it. So when I need to take more I chuck my handbag in my big bag.

I am an old hag and don't want anything too trendy. I live in Bath so have a small House of Fraser and small branches of lots of high street stores. I don't know if I can be arsed to go to Bristol and I fear the Mulberry factory shop is beyond my budget .

Have you looked in Jollys? Last time I was in there, they had a really nice selection of bags. Sorry I can't be more helpful about type of bag, I haven't bought one for ages! On another note, we are planning another Bath Mums get-together soon if you are interested...

I have indeed looked in Jolly's. I saw some OK ones but I didn't love them enough to part with a hundred quid. They had these which are OK and very practical.

I don't have to spend £100. I'm equally happy to spend £25.

I saw your meet up on Thursday but I was shagged so didn't come and surprise you .

Ah yes, you can't go wrong with a Radley!

brimfull · 22/03/2009 16:39

I have that radley in large, have had it yrs and it's fab albeit slightly dull.

ThingOne · 22/03/2009 16:39

Bugger. No nice Radley bags left. I like this one but not sold here or Bristol. I do need to play before purchase.

Any more ideas? Or any hints on where to buy bags in Bristol?

All Saints

ThingOne · 22/03/2009 16:57

Tee hee, I was fucked off with my search and didn't go into Warehouse. I should have done. And then I decided I couldn't face M&S either. And I've never seen anything as nice as those All Saints bags in Jolly's, although the website says they do stock some things. I wonder f they are in a different section for not-old-bags.

I think I may have to get in the car and go to Bristol.

I've just bought the M&S in brown. Is lovely, and quite Mulberry-esque (if you half shut your eyes, and it's a bit dark)

I'm not in a position to do anything other than squint and pretend, missblythe! I did handle the real thing in one shop this afternoon and it really was quite perfect in every way . It is clearly what old hags are meant to have.
