is this some kind of overall fetish I'm missing?
Picture here

noddyholder · 22/03/2009 17:17

I do if its wet or snowy

Takver · 22/03/2009 17:18

Come to think of it, the farmer's wife who lived opposite us when I was growing up always wore skirts and wellies (and still does), I have never seen her in a pair of trousers, and the only time AFAIK she wears shoes is on Sunday to go to church.

GentleOtter · 22/03/2009 17:23

Farmer's wife here who does this. It is haute couture round these parts.
Are you saying that it is not archie ?

cazboldy · 22/03/2009 17:24

I do! to go and get some milk/ get the horses in/ round the kids up!

but I do live on a farm

sagacious · 22/03/2009 17:25

I do in summer if I'm walking in the woods
The nettles are huuuuuge

And yes I do look all carefree and joyful (but minus the lab and kooky cardigan)

GentleOtter · 22/03/2009 17:25

(They hide my crankles)

Reads rest of thread

Ah yes .. see takver said it as well (I do not wear overalls though unless I'm spray painting.. and then only in a cute 70's Felicity Kendall ironic way)

Me. I wear skirts most of the time and if it's snowy, muddy or very wet, I'm not going to ruin my normal boots, am I? That's what wellies are for, I thought. What do YOU use them for??

TheFallenMadonna · 22/03/2009 21:15

Well, I do sometimes. I'm not going to get changed out of a skirt just because I need to put on wellies. And it means I don't have to faff around tucking in trousers...

ninah · 22/03/2009 21:16

I do, why not? it's quite usual round here, though the men tend to stick to trousers

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 22/03/2009 21:17

Me, because I own lots of skirts and no decent trousers because my various physical (ahem) anomalies make it almost impossible to find trousers that fit. And because I have groovy wellies and like to show them off.

Yurtgirl · 22/03/2009 21:20

I dug a hole today and planted a blackberry sapling - whilst wearing skirt and wellies!!!

TeddyBearCoalman · 23/03/2009 13:48

Trousers look shit tucked into wellies, and when you take the boots off your trews are all crumpled and your legs are all hot, sweaty and red.

I look fab in skirts and wellies.

loggedout · 23/03/2009 14:06

But do you remember that "slap" of wellie on bare calf from your childhood? And the angry red line where the wellie top rubs?

LetThemEatCake · 23/03/2009 15:16

okay, apparently we are all missing the point somewhat ...

read the bit about the Garbo knit coat - I mean, WHAT?????

and I usually use Sheerluxe as my style& shopping bible!!

PinkPussyCat · 23/03/2009 15:32

Well, if it's good enough for her...

I'm going to a wedding in April on a farm, they asked us to bring our wellies. Should I take some jeans too then?

morningpaper · 23/03/2009 15:39

I wear skirts with wellies all the time when gardening

perfectly ok

VintageGardenia · 23/03/2009 15:40

Ah but do you wear stockings and skirts and wellies like Keira?

WowOoo · 23/03/2009 15:41

I have done. But they rub my legs too much, so short stints in garden only!

morningpaper · 23/03/2009 15:42

they aren't stockings, they are over-knee socks

I am wearing some RIGHT NOW but that's because I went for a fanjo exam earlier with a GP I am in love with and didn't want to shave my legs

perfectly reasonable
