my scalp burns if i use a blonde hair dye so would i be ok with highlights ?

i am dark blonde and would love to go lighter but everytime i have tried to use a hair dye my scalp starts to burn and i have to wash it off
so do you think i could use one of those brush in highlight kits ?
can anyone recommend one please

i owuldn't tbh. i know you're not exactly rubbing it into your scalp but i woulnd't risk it.

and normally i am one of those people who owuld say go for it if you said you fancied green with blue tips or something like that
