IMHO any colour shoes (apart from white, gold, silver) should be OK with a smart black trouser suit. i preffer the pointy ones with 1-2 inch (max) heel either mule type or sling backs. if they look elegant you'll be just fine.

I wear flat pointy bronzy gold shoes with mine

i wear flat pump like shoes, in summer though i wear sandles when i am in the office so as not to stink out the people sitting within 6 feet of me.
