Is this just too vavavoom for a wedding?

in my dream Gossip Girl world head, i would 'team' it with clashing shoes, like pink or orange or something

Anyway, too much?

Also, I would not want to wear with black shoes or black tights but could always st tropez...or is too early in the year for any bare leggage? (the wedding is in a fortnight)

Wouldn't you be cold?

MadameCastafiore · 12/03/2009 18:40

Not too early for bare leggage - bit early for bare backage though!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/03/2009 18:43

If you could team it with some kind of jacket for the day time and then whip off said jacket to reveal sexy backage then I would say "go for it". Its a lovely dress

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/03/2009 18:45

oh and presumably norkage is not an issue cos you certainly can't wear a bra in that dress

sifuentes · 12/03/2009 18:46

I am always an old lady re too much bare nekkid flesh too. but I would cover up for sure until the dancin.

Having said that, in my head I have gorgeous honey-toned, long gym bunnied limbs.
In the mirror, i do not. Hmmmm

cornsilk · 12/03/2009 18:47

when is the wedding?

sifuentes · 12/03/2009 18:48

good point re the old norks.

I have heard of backless strapless bras, but now we are entering into the realm of serious hard work.

Seriously, I think those stick on cups would drive me up the wall. I would be worried that they would come loose the whole time - even if they were superglued on!

sifuentes · 12/03/2009 18:55

me too but a friend of mine raved about them recently.

It's just another thing that you have to buy though isn't it.

cornsilk the wedding is in a fortnight...
will be quite a fahbulous and trendy one

I think the dress is lovely.

However, my disclaimer should read that I am neither stylish nor beautiful

btw have used those stick on cups before. Once sucessfully, once not so much. Let's just say too much drink caused me to not take them off in the careful, gentle manner suggested. My skin lost several layers and was weeping. I thought DH was going to be sick. In the morning when I woke up, without the benefit of booze, I cried. So painful.

RipMacWinkle.......I am wincing on your behalf . And you have just convinced me to never try them. EVER!!

RipMacWinkle · 12/03/2009 19:13

TRMJS - I too am wincing at the memory!

I just reminded DH. He looked just as sick as he did then. Bearing in mind this was 4 years ago, that's no mean feat! I was a very silly girl though.

sifuentes · 12/03/2009 19:16

I once did that with my tongue and an ice tray [shudder]

EdwardBear · 12/03/2009 19:17

Dress is gorgeous!!
I'd wear with black tights and shoes though as my legs are definitely not ready to be bared!
The dress is so nice I'd buy it if not for my massive boobs that wouldnt stay up with no bra
(and OUCH at the stick on bra!!!)

sifuentes · 12/03/2009 19:19

but doesn't bright jewelly red + black legs = a bit christmas party though? THAT is my fear...

Nice dress.

Speaking of boobage, had a friend with a seriously flat chest, the fried eggs she called them, . We were at a rather luxurious resort and she was with a potential new and shiny boyfriend. Wanting to lure the poor unsuspecting boy into her wicked web, she donned a pair of those funny silicone bra stuffing thingies, I swear they looked like raw chicken breasts [yukkkk].
All was well until one of them was found floating in the pool, by the cocktail waiter at that.

MrsMattie · 12/03/2009 21:12

It's gorgeous if you have the figure for it, my lovely

tigerdriver · 12/03/2009 21:14

to go to a wedding or as your wedding dress?

NormaJeanBaker · 12/03/2009 21:14

If you like the clashing look wear it with purple tights - love the dress. Clash away cool chick.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2009 21:30

It will make your bum look enormous.

used2bthin · 12/03/2009 22:17

I like it. But if you decide its too daring, have a look in Kookai, there is a very similar dress there except it is longer and more covered up. Similar shape and same colour though.

squeaver · 12/03/2009 22:19

Oh I LOVE that! Not too much for a wedding but possibly a mite chilly in March.

morningpaper · 12/03/2009 22:21

that would make my arse look VAST

are you very very thin?

nice colour

kickassangel · 12/03/2009 22:22

i think it's lovely. if you want to tone it down slightly you could team with a cream or brown shrug. gold if you really want to vavavoom it.
shoes - platform peep toes to go with said shrug.
how old are you, what size, and how much time will be spent outside?
if you're under 30, size 12 or less & going to be inside, could be brill, if not, well, it's your choice.
buy the bra thing NOW. and spend your eves jumping up & down doing YMCA to see if it sticks
