I am short and overweight - I want a dress for dd2's christening. HELP

I am 5'2 and a size 16 on the bottom - top half slightly bigger and have huge boobs at the moment. I would love a dress to wear for dd2's christening. Any idea what style to go for? Or am I better off to stick with trousers and dressy top? (desperately hoping everyone will say 'get a dress and give me loads of ideas?

Thanks

this is nice
how big are your boobs?
are they bravissimo size?

brimfull · 11/03/2009 21:27

lovely dress from bravissimo, may need to be shortened for you

Thanks. I quiet like that one. Yes, boobs normally DD but gone up to an F with breastfeeding. I think my main problem is that clothes in larger sizes are usually made for taller women and I am quite short so they never look right. Also I am really bad at knowing what type of shoes goes with what.

I will be 35 this year and would love to start looking stylish and together for special occasions.

Would a skrt and top do? I'm about same size height build as you by sounds of it, and my ds christened a couple of week ago! ooh spooky! And congratulations by the way O=on your dd!

i wore an a-line skirt from monsoon with a big print (i'm pale skinned so it was shades of black and olive and cream) an d a lovely v neck almost plunge knitted 3/4 sleeved jumper from next that had a silky ribbon at the deepest point of plunge to tie in a bow, and some soopa trendy palegrey shoes.

is that any help? failing that, i'd say stick to good old monsson but get a v neck, poss slight bias cut stopping just below knee length and whatever heel height you're omfy with!

I had forgotten about Monsoon. I have had some nice things from there in the past. Must check out the website.

I love the Wallis dress but not sure if it is too dressy for a daytime event. What shoes would you wear with it?

demure

fishie · 11/03/2009 21:38

leopard may not be suitable for christening

suiledonn · 11/03/2009 21:41

I like the first one you linked to fishie but does jersey tend to be very clingy? Post-baby tummy is something I am keen to hide, if possible.

it depends on you really suiledonn, you could have something more frilly
