jeans for a size 18-which do you prefer?

I don't like stretch or with elastic in the waist.
I like a fairly high waist and straight legs or very slightly bootcut.

Mine are all M&S and I wouldn't have a clue about buying others and tragically I bought three pairs in the same style .....
Thought about boden bootcut as I have just seen they have 25% off at the moment.
Any suggestions welcome or ones to avoid!

Hula jeans from New Look

kayzr · 11/03/2009 15:54

I second Hula jeans from New Look. They are fab and cheap.

MrsBoo · 11/03/2009 15:54

No idea, will watch this closely as i take size 18 and never really find ones I like.
I have Boden and Monsoon which were recomended here, and Next - but they all have faults.

pellmell · 11/03/2009 16:01

ok thanks for replies
just looked on line at hula jeans...they seem to only be in a 28 leg so I think too short for me. All out of stock anyway.
Another thing is price. Are £10 jeans as long lasting as more pricey ones? Would be great if they are because it's annoying to spent £30 to £40 per pair and still discover faults.

They do up to 34 leg. I've had mine for 3 months and they are still just as good as the first day I got them.

blossomsmine · 13/03/2009 08:46

I bought four pairs of hula jeans last August and they are still going strong I bought 31 length i think.

slug · 13/03/2009 09:24

Hula jeans are fabulous and long wearing. Be careful though, they come up quite big. I routinely wear one or two sizes smaller than I would in M&S jeans.

blossomsmine · 13/03/2009 09:37

OMG! I must be even fatter than i thought!! Still wear the same in hula jeans as my normal clothes size.... infact they are abit tight!

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2009 09:41

how tall are you? MIne are either Hula or Long Tall Sally, which fit beautifully and are so slimming.

slug · 13/03/2009 11:51

Ahh blossommine. It could be because of the cut which accommodates the round of tummy (so that hangingbellyofbabylon thought of that name first)

pramspotter · 13/03/2009 11:58

I just got a pair of hula jeans and I love them. I am really pair shaped (12 on top, 16 on bottom)and can never find jeans that fit. They look good and are really comfy. I am going to get some more tomorrow.

shangrila · 13/03/2009 13:27

Please tell me more... I am of 'athletic build' and am in the hunt for a new pair of jeans.

I would ideally do the boyfriend/slouchy cut thing but have come up with nothing, so far.

The hula ones are tempting but on the website they look a little skinny legged. Is this my paranoid imagination and will they really be ok for a 16/18?

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2009 15:22

I have slouchy Hulas, def what I would call a boyfriend cut. I'd take a trip and look instore, there are various different styles. I agree about them coming up big too.

cass66 · 13/03/2009 15:50

The boden bootcut jeans are lovely and slimming but quite low on the waist, which might not be to your taste. I can't get into mine yet, but looking forward to when I can without a HUGE muffin top!

Botbot · 13/03/2009 15:55

Dorothy Perkins £15 jobs. I wear the 'skinny' ones but they really aren't skinny, just straight-legged (I wish they were skinnier, tbh, cos my legs aren't bad, I've just got a size 18 waist!)

blossomsmine · 13/03/2009 20:56

Ah...that will probably be what it is then, the hulas accomodate my horrible stomach lol!!! They are good jeans though. I don't find the legs too slim fitting, to whoever asked that question!

pellmell · 17/03/2009 15:23
