I'm presuming they are still in for this year as they are in Monsoon's window.

But where would I wear one?

anywhere. with flip flops etc, chunky jewellary and a denim jacket during the day and heels of a night. i love them!!

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2009 21:48

yeah, they'll take you anywhere. I would tend to skip the denim jacket though. But that's just me.

LynetteScavo · 10/03/2009 21:50

Even an evening wedding in the summer?

god yes, a maxi for an evening wedding in summer is perfect!! Definitely no denim jacket though!!!!!!

LynetteScavo · 10/03/2009 21:56

And no flip flops. (I asked the bride if I could wear flip flops - the wedding's abroad - and her face looked like this )

ah, see i have a funky 3/4 sleeve denim jacket that i love.

how about gladiator sandals?

WilyWombat · 10/03/2009 22:02

I have had a totally self indulgent wasted day today and E!news said they were still in

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2009 22:34

gladiators, or embrace the 70s trend with a wedge...

mileniwmffalcon · 11/03/2009 09:14

could someone tell me who (as in what body shape) looks good in a maxi dress as i haven't worked it out.

Marthasmama · 11/03/2009 09:19

I think it would still depend on the cut of the dress. I know that the plunge necks are rubbish for big norks. Geri demonstrates why.

Horizons · 11/03/2009 15:28

other than Monsoon, anywhere else doing nice maxi's?

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/03/2009 15:34

I tried maxi dresses last year - DP bought me a fabulous one which had a beautiful black and orange print.

It looks horrible on - flattens my tits and makes me look a shortarse (am 6 foot so that is no easy feat). I also kept on tripping on the hem when walking up stairs, very glamorous.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 11/03/2009 15:36

I have a strapless maxi which I adore, and I have massive norks.

If you love it, and it suits you, wear it!

LynetteScavo · 16/03/2009 13:50

I emailed the bride to see if it woudl be apropriate wear.

She replied saying she thinks it would look "cute".

I'm not sure a 36 yo should look cute.

I bought a maxi dress two summers ago. I have worn it several times in the privacy of my own garden and a few times on holiday. However, have only worn it out and about here once.....was convinced I looked like some mad old bint who had wandered away from the care home in her nightie

pagwatch · 16/03/2009 14:03

I have 4 for this summer and have just bought this one here
They look great dressed up or down and are so comfortable.

roll on summer

missblythe · 16/03/2009 14:05

Mango have already got quite a few, although for lots of shops it's a bit early, as they are quite a high-summer look.

If you are thinking high street, I'd try Zara/Warehouse/French Connection/Oasis.

You'll def. have to wear flat sandals with it, or risk looking very silly. Leather flip-flops would be okay, I'm sure-in gold, maybe. The bride was probably thinking you were going to rock up in Crocs or something.

Sorry! Over-eager due to thoughs of summer clothes.

MrsMattie · 16/03/2009 14:24

No unless you are skinny. They make anyone over a size 12 look pregnant.

LynetteScavo · 16/03/2009 17:06

I'm a size 12 - but I hate my fat calves, which makes a maxi dress seem like a good idea.
