How do you tie your hair back without kinking it?

I have just washed and dried my hair but I want to do things in the house that mean it is getting in the way. If I use a hairband it gets a kink, so how the hell do I keep it off my face?!

(Have only just discovered swishy hair, am used ot scraping it back, so am a late starter on hair issues)

If you can fix it into a loose bun when it's damp, it should fall into swishy waves or curls when you take it down

Or use a bandana, though they tend to flatten my hair unflatteringly to my forehead

I do use a bandana type hairscarf but I don't like the flattened bit. And my hair doesn' curl beaultifully, it just kinks! very annoying!

but thanks!
