Dying hair ......( aka assisted dying?! )

Can anyone offer advice on dying your hair at home? The grey is coming through and I can't afford to have it done at the hairdresser (locally they charge around £70+).

  1. Which are the best home dye kits..
  2. How do you choose the most natural/ suitable colour? (I have some colour still on my hair from last visit to hairdresser.)

Thank you.

In my experience the dye ALWAYS turns out a few shades darker than on the box, so go for a few shades lighter than what your aiming for.
Don't know the best brand but if you have really thick or long hair, get 2 boxes!

I touch up my roots at home and get it dyed at the hairdresser every 2nd or 3rd time and that way it is cheaper but still doesnt look homedyed. My hairdresser told me the colour he used and I buy it online so it matches. He said as I was going to do it myself anyway he may as well tell me the proper colour - maybe yours would as well?

What is your haircolour? If you are brunette I can tell you what I have learned in my 5 years of colouring. I learned a lot from my mistakes
