I am losing weight (thank god) I put on loads after having DS mainly due to some migraine med I was on that had weight gain as a side effect I am now off it and on another one which has weight LOSS as a side effect, result!! Anyway I am by no means slim again but I am too small for my grey tweed size 20 skirt, and jeans, they do literally fall off of me without any hesitation. But I am still too big for my pre-pregnancy size 12/14/16 skirts & trousers. I have one pair of jeans that fit me and some comfy trousers (track suit bottoms) and that is it. And 1 or 2 tops but none of them very smart at all.

Today I am going (in an hour!) to The Tiger Who Came to Tea, at our local civic theatre with DS, DH, and DS's honourary Grandad. I have spent a whole bloody hour trying clothes on and I just look like shit. I have finally settled on something I have managed to cobble together but I am so depressed!!! I just look so blah. And I used to be such a glamour puss. I can go clothes shopping tomorrow but I havent got loads of money to spend on myself and its been so long since I have gone shopping I dont even know where to go. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO GO! What to buy??? I dont want to spend a fortune as hopefully I will keep losing weight and settle back down somewhere nearer a 14.

Help!!!!!

yeah! it seems to be effective. or it might be the hardships of raising kids that did it?

ooh pooter I love those!! thanks!! xxx

I really like the first one best!

And you arent scruffy!

I have had migraines since I was 7 so been on everything going. My neurologist is brilliant and a specialist in migraines. He tried me on olanzapine before, which is actually an anti-psychotic. That is the one that had (massive) weight gain as a side effect. It worked for a while but not too long. It did though put on at least 3 stone! Came off it last October. Now I am on Topamac (I think that is the brand name)I have only been on it for a week so far. You have to build up gradually to full dose over about 6 weeks, it is quite potent stuff. And it can but not likely give you glaucoma. And also my neurologist said one of his other patients on it got an uncontrollable urge to kill her son but she came off it straight away and the urge went.

I am sufficiently desperate to try it anyway! I know the risks so if I feel homicidal or my eyes start hurting I have a procedure to follow ASAP. By the way, the glaucoma thing will only affect you in the first month, if ever. If you pass the first month without it then you are scot free.

These are the preventative treatments, what acute treatments have you tried? The injections you give yourself in your thigh work well but knock you out. I am trying zomig out now.

I could go on about migraines for ages! Its a fucking tedious subject and scares the shit out of me. But anyway... back to dresses!! Hope that info on the meds helps - word of warning - DO NOT try olanzapine - my neurologist cant even remember why he suggested it now, it was ages ago & he is very eccentric, as I said we are desperate. It wasnt successful enough to justify the weight gain.

PerArdua - I too am on Topamax, have been taking it since mid December for the daily crashing migraines that had me bed ridden (not an exaggeration) for almost a month.

It's not been the miracle drug my neurologist bigged it up to be (although the two stone weightloss is nice) - my headaches have subsided to a point where I can get up and semi function, but haven't been to work for 3 months as I can't look at a screen for more than 15 minutes without another migraine hitting me. I spend 8 to 10 hours a day on the computer at work so not sure how I'm going to get back there.

Am also taking propranolol but only started that 2 weeks ago.

Sorry for hijack!

PS is it sad that I use my allowed 10 minutes on the computer to MN rather than read the news or check email?

Thanks guys! Sorry so late to respond - guess what I did over the weekend
