What footwear to wear with wide-legged trousers in spring/summer???

What footwear would you wear with wide-legged trousers. I have just bought some fabulous ones, never been diverted from my usual boot-leg before, and I love them. Just can't decide what type of shoes/sandels I should be wearing, heels no heels..... what would you wear?

depends on the occasion

what kind of trousers

if linen and casual, then Birkenstocks, flip flops, Converse if cooler

if tailored, then possibly wedges or Mary-Jane type heels

I like tailored ones with wedges.

Personally I think they look really weird with Converse but that may just be on me.

I also wear metallic sandals - very flat, leather sole type things.

Converse look fine as long as the trousers are not too short - they need to sit on top of the shoe (in fact, same goes for sandals and flip flops too........nothing more guaranteed to spoil a good wide leg trouser than them being marginally too short)

Thanks for the help, they are definitely casual every day trousers so I will try my birkies on. I love the idea of metallic sandals and have in fact just ordered some.....
