ummmm....thinking with you here

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 27/02/2009 22:27

yes, thinner looks better

muffin top fine but my size 18-20 ass don't look so fine

all the swooshy hair, expensive cosmetics and fancy jewellery make me look like one of my favourite mumsnettisms - a per una fat pottery teacher

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/02/2009 22:28

am googling fat and stylish to see what comes up...

I'm still post pregnant fat and all my coats are size 8. No chance of any swishing for me as even my huge swing coat is a bit snug . I think a good swishy coat is better on a not-skinny lady than a too small belted one. You see that too often.....

I think looking together is about simplicity and attention to detail. That's what I get wrong....too much going on or not enough to make an outfit work.

daftpunk · 27/02/2009 22:29

pmsl pussinjimmychoos...god knows what will turn up!

that's why i dress hippyish...i'm not skinny enough for stylish.

that Jessica Simpson stuff is sick - she's a British size 10/12 - there's the most amazing picture of her on the Daily Mail

I'd eat offal to look like that

She looks feckin' great

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/02/2009 22:33

Just asked DH..he said the jeans were frumpy, but that aside, he thought she was sexy

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 22:36

DH is a brunette man and loves Selma Hayek. Alas, I'm either a fat shapeless blob or a skinny boy. No lovely curves here!

samsonara · 27/02/2009 22:40

Lauriefairycake, your outfit sounds fabulous and I would be impressed if I saw you out and about in that and secretly jealous as that's how I like to dress given the chance, I love seeing unique style in rich colours and textures like velvets, jacquards, devore.

daftpunk · 27/02/2009 22:41

i think you have to be fairly tall and slim to really pull off a stylish look

samsonara · 27/02/2009 22:42

I think size doesn't matter but confidence does, meaning you have to feel happy and comfortable to be seen in the outfit from all angles

daftpunk · 27/02/2009 22:44

oh yes..confidence is sexy...that's different...you can be tall/slim/stylish..but not have "it"...iykwim.

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 27/02/2009 22:44

samsonara it was very like this but with more red - they've sold out of the one I hadwww.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.140588/walk.yah.UKFA-U069

Now I've shown you the Dreamkeeper range you're so going to want a devore top

PillicockSatOnPillicockHill · 27/02/2009 22:48

i think it is all about confidence but with a bit of pzazz ( naff word i know!)

bit of a scarf often does it for me with good shoes/boots

samsonara · 27/02/2009 22:58

Thanks Lauriefairycake, they're aren't in the style I like, but I love the fabrics and seeing them on others. I would be likely to wear something like this
here

Nontoxic · 27/02/2009 23:07

O.M.G. samsonara - that ruffle coat!
How on earth did you find it? How much is it? How can I persuade DH that I really must have it? How? How? How?

samsonara · 27/02/2009 23:15

Sorry, we are 4 years too late, it was from Milly's , Net-a-porter £380..winter 2005here,

mrsmaidamess · 27/02/2009 23:56

Good hair, good shoes. The in between bit can be as cheapo as you like then. Oh, and lippy round the clock.
