What shall I wear?

DH and I are going to London for the night and to see Grease at the theatre. A couple of years ago we went to see Mamma Mia! and I was quite surprised how casually some of the audience were dressed. I wore black trousers and a smart top. Wondering what one is meant to wear at the theatre.

I think anything goes these days. Very casual or really smart.

I think you should dress for the occasion, so if it's special for you, then dress up.

Though if you turned up in a long frock you might get looks.

I think smart is best, although not really dressed up. It does make me a bit [hmmm] when I see people in jeans in the theatre. I think a skirt and boots, or a wrap dress, or smart trousers or something like that would be fine.

I won't be wearing a dress but it makes a nice change to dress up. I think I will. Thanks.

It was the track suit that made me a bit

whatever you want.

lucky you nabster! As i haven't been to the theatre in london I can't comment... as mmoc says, it's the same in our area - more to dress for the occasion / group you are with, which is a bit of a different perspective on the same thing i suppose

Have a lovely time. wear what you like best!

I will start getting excited tomorrow I think!

I am excited now!

I am wearing my new dark jeans and an as yet undecided top.

Might stay up all night and do jobs as too excited to sleep!

c'mon then, final verdict?

Nabster · 02/03/2009 21:42

I wore my nice shirt/blouse with a vest top underneath. Felt dressed just right. Lots were very casually dressed and some had made a bit more of an effort.
