Fabrics online?

Anyone know of a good website to buy fabrics online - where they show you swatches etc?
Need some striped fabric to upholster chair in DD's bedroom ... and can't see anything I like in Laura Ashley (which I normally use). Thanks.

IKEA you can browse online and then go in to buy it - lots of stripes at the moment,

here for example, and here and lots more under 'fabrics and sewing'.

deckchairstripes is good for - well, deckchair stripes! I have just bought some material for stripey curtains. They'll post you swatches. it's canvas but not too deckchairy if you don't put it on a deckchair!

let me know if you don't find anything online that you like and I will take a look at work for you!

hi bodiddly ... have not found anything yet ... looking for a fairly narrow/ticking stripe with mauve and grey in it .... would be very grateful if you can find anything suitable ... and not too expensive!
Thanks

have you had a look on ebay, there are always lots of new fabrics being sold

Try Next online - I've just ordered 7 swatches for free (and free delivery by the looks of things). Hopefully they'll come in a few days.

hi Madigan .. I have had a quick look this morning and I can't find anything thats even vaguely mauve and grey ticking. The closest I have is a mauve and cream stripe ... stripes set slightly wider apart than ticking or wider stripes with mauve and taupe and cream - but I am afraid they aren't cheap! I will keep my eye open for you though!

bodiddly · 25/02/2009 08:44

Perhaps if you give me an idea of what it is for or to go with I can find you an alternative idea if you have no luck elsewhere!

Bodiddly - thank you so much for your help. It is for upholstering a bedrroom chair. Wallpaper is grey/white, and curtains/cushions etc mauve/taupe/grey. I am thinking that the striped fabric you saw with mauve/taupe/cream might work? Who makes the fabric and how much is it?
Many thanks!!

ewwww just checked they are definitely not cheap I am afraid. The collections starts at £41.20 a metre and goes up to £57.10 a metre from a company called Casamance.

Madigan · 25/02/2009 17:11

oh dear ... way over budget I am afraid. Can just about stretch to £20 per metre ........
thank you so much for trying. will go visit john lewis tomorrow and see what they have x
