Bloomin 'eck what am I going to wear to this wedding?

It is in July, but it is on a beach.... on Mull. It could be pissing with rain, in which case whatever I wear will need to go with my lime green waterproof (sounds disgusting but is really quite nice). It could be midgey in which case whatever I wear will need to go with my bug jacket (I really do have one, but maybe I should leave it at home no?) and also I have fallen in love with these shoes - like the blue ones too even though I might well be wearing wellies.

I was thinking of a shift dress type of thing with leggings if it is cold or opaque tights? too casual?

I'm 5'4", size 8-10 with a waist and hips but no norks.

Whistles has some really nice shift dresses for spring/summer. Those shoes are fab!

samsonara · 23/02/2009 21:19

How much do you want to spend?

Bensonbluebird · 23/02/2009 21:21

Ooh, I like this one. Not so sure about the colour though. Maybe I could copy it? (any excuse to go fabric shopping)

Um, I'd prefer not to spend more than £80.

It's very low that Whistles one
see

I like the shoes, they will be great for a ceilidh too.

The beach might not be too midge infested at a wedding time of day (Scottish wedding usually late afternoon), especially if there is a good strong sea breeze blowing, the midge will be out in force at dusk, unless it is one of those damp hot days when you can hardly breathe for the midge - is it an outside all day event with marquee? you could take citronella candles too ... mind liberal amounts of skin so soft....

Bensonbluebird · 23/02/2009 21:28

You're right, I couldn't wear a vest with that could I?

It's 4pm on the beach and then on to a village hall. The midgies die down for a while at dusk don't they?

sorry maybe it's not the same one, looks similar on first glimpse.

samsonara · 23/02/2009 21:37

This one would go with the blue shoes you liked
blue

I don't think if a vest would look right unless it was made of a similar silk material.

Aefondkiss · 23/02/2009 21:43

midge and know your enemy dusk and dawn are the worst time for the midge - well the worst time to encounter them, so it is probably a good time for the wee beastards.

Bensonbluebird · 23/02/2009 21:45

That blue one is a good colour. I have a bit of an idea about block colour.. will google further.

Thanks for the midge links, I will be slapping on the bog myrtle based repellant (I'm not convinced it works but I like the smell)

OP posts:
Aefondkiss · 23/02/2009 21:51

yeah I like the bog myrtle smell too, it might not be too bad... sorry I can't help with clothes, I will look in again to see what you find!

Prosecco · 23/02/2009 21:53

I doubt there will be midges at the time of the wedding. What about this.

This would go with the orange shoes, or blue.

Bensonbluebird · 23/02/2009 22:00

That next dress is a good shape and colour, but maybe a bit frilly for me.

I'm thinking of making something in a similar shape to the next dress, maybe no 4072 the last one on this page in either a solid aqua colour or with the bands in a contrast colour.
