My mum hates her neck, what is the summer alternative to a polo-neck?

I know it is ages away yet but I want to get my mum some new clothes for Mother's Day. She has real issues with her crepe neck (only she can see it!) and wears polo necks and cardigans in winter. What could I get her now it is coming into spring?

pretty thin scarf things?

nice scarves, statement necklace

That is what I thought, any links? She would normally wear something like this with a polo neck under and a brooch, she has a gorgeous grey one with a brooch as she thinks it takes the attention off her neck?
I think she might need persuading!

How about some lovely posh mature skin neck cream - Elizabeth Arden or similar.

AnyFucker · 23/02/2009 11:47

scarves

Debenhams have loads of lovely, summer-weight ones.

Muffle her neck is really not bad, but I might suggest that, is it different to face cream? I have other siblings so we can get cream as well as scarves and the usual flowers if we club together!

You can get special neck cream - I'm sure it's not actually necessary and of course won't miraculously cure crepe-iness, but it is a lovely treat. I've got it for my mum in the past and she was pleased. If it has a nice scent, feel etc and is nice to use then it has a psychological feelgood effect.

How about a thin sleeveless polo or turtle neck sweater (summer weight) with a very thin floaty tunic top or shirt over it?

Look at Hobbs style 3222 (2nd page of knitwear).

I guess she'd moan about her arms being out then! She is quite difficult but in a lovely way, she just needs more confidence! I told her she'll be 80 one day and look back and think I wish my skin was 50 again, she knows I'm right but still wants to cover up
