Hair dye question...

pamplemousse · 20/02/2009 22:08

Am a bit rubbish at all things hair and beauty related so explain simply to me!
I dyed my very dark brown hair with grey in a burgundy type colour. It is now growing out and I want to go back to browny chestnut, which is what I normally do.
Can I dye over the weird burgundy colour? Please don't tell me I have to grow it out or anything...

you can dye over it - you will probably need to leave it on for about 30 mins though, I usually do as I have v dark hair like you.

pamplemousse · 20/02/2009 22:19

Are you SURE??????????????????????? I'm terrified of having lovely chestnut brown roots and a vile weird mixed colour on the rest of my head?

well, I am sure in the sense that I have dyed over dark red dye back to a dark brown colour and it worked - but maybe some other posters can confirm!!

It should be fine. Unless you used herbal dye whcih you have to wait to grow out.

pamplemousse · 20/02/2009 22:23

Oh shit it was called herbatint and made with plant stuff.
NOOOOOOOOOO I cannot be grey! How about going over it with another herbal colour?

oh no - can't help you there, I know nothing about herbal dyes. It's pure chemicals for me!

pamplemousse · 20/02/2009 22:36

I love the chemicals, seriously this herbal stuff left my hair like brittle straw until I slapped the conditioner on and left it on for 10 minutes to help mend my poor hair!
And now I'm stuck with weird hair [sob]

pamplemousse any dye, permanent or semi permanent, which has two bottles mixed together has bleach in. so it will cover anything, but will probably leave it strawlike in teh long run.

some herbal things are made of leaves and i have found find they really fuck up my hair, sort of clog it up.

daniel field stuff doesn't, but does make very bright colours on my grey which i like but you might not.

I love daniel field shampoo, haven't seen it for years!
Sod it I'll try it and see what happens.
fishie it did have hydrogen peroxide in it, which is bleach right? Where you get daniel field stuff from?
