I've lost weight but now look older. If I put some back on will I look younger?

I lost about 1.5 stones (from 10st 10lb to 9st 4lb)last year for my neice's wedding. I was delighted as I had tried for years without success to lose it. I have maintained the weight loss. My body looks much better and it is great to be able to feel good in my clothes.

Unfortunately, however, I look a lot older now, especially around my mouth. (I am 46 but have always looked younger). My face seems to have dropped! I feel so awful each time I look in the mirror now. The skin around my mouth almost looks lumpy!!

Does anyone have any ideas for improving this? Do I put weight back on in the hope that it will 'flesh' out my face? Or is there any magic cream that will help? (I currently religiously clean my face with wipes and use nivea cream during day and Waitrose Baby Butter at night). All answers very gratefully received!

Dolly, the way I see it is life's too short to be worrying about food/your weight!

I may wobble, but am very content (weight-wise).

Go enjoy yourself with the girls tonight!! I'm off for a curry, too!

Dolly, I am exactly the same as you!!!

Don't want to put the weight back on but could do with polyfiller now for my face!

I would like something to fill in the lines around both sides of my mouth which have appeared!
x

It's a horrible feeling, Lunamoon2, isn't it. I can actually feeling my mouth being pulled downwards!! I think I will have to walk around with a permanent smile.

Following my curry last night and a large roast dinner this evening I think I have certainly put on a few pounds - probably the 3lb I need to get to 9st 7lb but my bloated belly feels (and looks) HORRIBLE. Actually, I'm probably nearer 10st tonight! I can feel myself sliding back to my original weight.

Have you lost weight quickly, Lunamoon2? And was it a very low fat diet?

I think it was Catherine Deneuve that said something like "after a certain age you have to choose between your ass and your face. I chose my face."

I tell myself that now even though I'm not quite "a certain age", just to make myself feel better about those last 10lbs.

Hi there, well done for losing weight!
Have you looked at face exercises, ie facercise?
Your facial skin is attached to the facial muscles, so toning them will lift and firm your face.
Carole Maggio wrote Facercise and I'm 43 and it has made me look less sad and cranky 😉
Good luck and know that you're beautiful regardless xox

If you're comfortable at the lighter weight then consider dermal fillers to replace the list volume in your face. Find a good practioner.

I'm in my 40's and weigh 9 stones 3lb at the moment, at 5ft 5.5. I don't think my face looks older but I have a diet high in good fats, much more than I have eaten in the past. I don't eat any sugar or refined carbs, and eat a lot of protein. I'm pretty sure this is the reason why. Before you put the weight back on, try to up your good fats and tweak your diet and see what happens after a couple of months.
If you try to fatten out your face, you may find that the fat you put on hangs down of your face. Which will be ageing.

I think carrying excess weight is definitely ageing.

ZOMBIE THREAD!

Why the hell would anyone find a thread from NINE years ago to resurrect?

CountFosco · 11/02/2018 11:47

I'm 5'2" and had the same weight loss last year at the same age. For me there might be a few more lines but the loss of my jowls has made me still look younger in the face and obviously my body looks much better. I exercise a lot and so just really cut out the junk to lose weight ignore the pain au chocolate I had at breakfast time today. I've now got a BMI of between 23 and 24 and my weight is very similar to what it was in my 20s and I can maintain on just under 2000 calories a day so it feels like a healthy lifestyle that's not too restrictive.

If you are concerned about your face it might be worth tweaking your diet so you are eating more healthy fats. Also, are you getting enough sleep, not smoking, not drinking too much and doing regular exercise? But I do feel quite strongly that it's better to have a few more lines that reflect your experience at a healthy weight with a healthy lifestyle.

FFS. Hate posting on zombie threads.

Zombie, yes, but the face/arse issue hasn't gone away.
