need new bras. advice appreciated about what size to get.

i am a 32e in figleaves usually. thought depending on the bra, have worn some 32dd ones as well. all my bras are at least 18 months old, and i put them in the washing machine, (yes, i know i'm not suppsed to). they now dont appear to fit so well. i have also gained and lost weight between then and now
so, what size should i go for? getting four boobs in many of them, whilst the back size appears to be riding up, ie not horizontal on my back.
any advice appreciated. i like balconetter bras.

order some from Bravissimo and they will exchange or refund on any that don't fit or you don't like. Or, depending on where you live, go to your Bravissimo store (even better).

Go & get yourself measured - honestly, it's fantastic, you come out with new boobs and not at all cringe-y. Don't go to M&S though, they are notoriously bad. JL or Bravissimo both very good.

Band riding up means back is too big. I always use tape measure, but don't add any on. If you can get to Bravissimo then all the better. If your back measures 30 inches, then you are a 30. As a general rule of thumb, if you go down a back size, you may need to go up a cup size so maybe 30 E/F. Show me a photo and I will size you and keep away from M&S.

I'm going to guess 30F. Do we get a prize if we guess right?

Have you been sized by Bravissimo or John Lewis before? You may think that they are putting you in far too small a back size and you'll never breathe but they are usually right.

Anyway, F really isn't that abnormal now - as I said the fashion (for want of a better word) is to put people into smaller backs, therefore cups get bigger proportionally bigger. Bravissimo go way down the alphabet!

Pre-pregnancy I was wearing a 38C, now a 32E (F in more fashionable brands such as Freya). Yes, my weight may have fluctuated a bit but I still look more or less the same "up front".

I'm a 30FF and don't look that big. I have had a breast reduction though, so have a skewed opinion . Me and Barbara know our stuff!

measuring gives you a rough guide, but you really need to try lots of sizes as styles/brands vary enormously. the easiest way to do this is to go and be fitted, but if you're confident you know what to look for you can order loads of sizes online and keep the best. figleaves have a good fitting guide, showing what a bra shouldn't look like and what it should. some styles of bra may well just not suit you, so be prepared for that.

as others have said, sounds like your current bras are too large in the band, too small in the cup. when you go down a back size you go up a cup size, so 30f would be smaller back same cup, if those cups are too small you're looking at a 30ff/g.

when you buy a new bra it should fit comfortably on the last hook (i.e. loosest setting) as the band will give with washing and wear.
