What colour shoes with these navy dresses?

I'm returning to work in 3 weeks and have just been to Monsoon and bought two lovely navy dresses - one is plain, and one has white embroidery.

What colour shoes would be best to go with them? I thought tan or grey would look good with the plain one, but not sure if that would work with the white embroidery of the other.

they're lovely dresses.

agree that tan wouldn't go with the embroidery, but a mid flat grey would probably go. Before I read you had a colour in mind, I was going to say red.

i do have some fab red heels which i also thought would be great, but might be a bit racy for work so trying to find another option!

i'd defo go for the racy red ones for the plain dress, poss an accessory or two?
I really love the one with the embroidery, ...though i have to say that I would be tempted to go for something navy with it [boring emoticon] just to avoid upstaging the embroidery and ending up hotchpotch. But then again, I think navy heels would look really classy - even navy patent ballet pumps.

traceybath · 18/02/2009 16:09

I'd go red too!

womblingalong · 18/02/2009 16:24

What about nude/flesh toned. Will elongate the leg, and have the bonus of going with a lot of other colours too?

gigglewitch · 18/02/2009 16:26

bare feet then wombling

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 18/02/2009 16:31

Love that plain dress - am off to buy it!!!!

womblingalong · 18/02/2009 16:46

Lol Gigglewitch, well named too

I meant nude coloured shoes, of course!

Fimbo · 18/02/2009 16:51

How about sandals in the hope we get some better weather soon.

woodenchair · 18/02/2009 17:09

these would look great with the first dress

here

Red is my instinctive response. Gap have some red patent ballet pumps if you are happy with completely flat. Otherwise I think either tan or navy patent would be good, wouldn't go for grey though.

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:16

these dresses are nice

id go for red patent
or emerald
the navy and white one would be nice with white sandals/wedges

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:17

oooooh

BonsoirAnna · 18/02/2009 17:19

You could coordinate a cardigan, shoes and bag on the plain navy dress to give it a bit more personality.

The embroidered one needs tan leather accessories.

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:19

navy and white

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:20

nayv red and white sandals

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:21

nailpolish · 18/02/2009 17:22

Miyazaki · 18/02/2009 17:28

red. definitely.

kettlechip · 18/02/2009 19:24

I wear purpley pink patent shoes (Clarks, last season but lots of same colour about in shops still) with navy trousers, and the contrast works really well. Have a matching bag to pull it together a bit.

Agree on red also.

HolidaysQueen · 18/02/2009 19:32

you guys are fab. i will be posting on here more often

woodenchair - i saw those exact shoes in clarks today and wondered if they would work!

Hmmm.....I would be concerned that red heels with navy dress would look a bit "cabin crew".....imo but red flats would be good.

I think tan or navy heels or flats would look fab for spring or summer.

nailpolish · 19/02/2009 09:07

i now want a pair of tan heels after this thread! going to start another...
