Highlight advice/question.

I'm haveing my hair highlighted this week and am having a crisis of confidence!

Are highlights supposed to be done from your parting? I have a side parting but wonder if thay should be done from the centre?
Does that even make sense?

But does that mean highlights should be done from the centre parting or from where it actually is??

I don't think partings really come into it- have had mine done loads of times- half a head- she scatters them all over and puts more/fewer depending on the style and cut of your hair.

I have a short ish side parting type of hair style- think Princess Di with a twist!

The hairdresser starts at the back, then she does the sides and works up to the crown and temple area.
