Knitwear

I normally wear black or grey with occasional bits of purple but I wore a green jumper to work a few days ago and got lots of compliments. Clearly I need more colour in my life!

Please can anybody recommend any cardigans or jumpers for a size 12, 32E dark haired short person? I would be wearing them with jeans or a denim pencil skirt at the weekends, or with skirts or wide legged trousers for work. They would need to be v-neck or square necked, deffo not round or high necked and thin knit not chunky.

Preferably no more than £30 if at all poss.

Thank you!

Did you look in Zara at the long cardigans, they have them in linen and cotton and in great pink, purple, cream, green as well as black and grey? 15 to 20 pounds

janeite · 15/02/2009 20:50

I did look in Zara but all the colours looked a bit strange and made me look really washed out. I really struggle to know what colours look okay - am probably a "Winter" if that means anything to anybody.

What about Kew?

Is Jigsaw too pricey?

Re: colours, I decided to stop wearing black a couple of years ago, and have shifted towards greys, muted blues, greens, browns, pinks. They look more expensive than 'hard' colours

janeite · 15/02/2009 21:20

Thanks Molesworth. Jigsaw deffo too expensive.

My problem is that black does generally suit me and a lot of colours tend to wash me out but this one from kew looks like it might be reasonable, colour wise.

this one's nice

But your slouch cardigan is a much better price (and a pretty colour)

janeite · 15/02/2009 21:23

Not sure about that one: looks a bit severe! Sorry - I am so fussy.

Have a look at Woolovers ...
woolovers

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 16/02/2009 23:26

How good is the stuff from Woolovers? Cannot believe how cheap they are for cashmere/merino/silk and lambswool!

janeite · 18/02/2009 18:40

Sorry only just seen this.

Never heard of Woolovers.

I was in Uniqlo today and they have some gorgeous knitwear in stock. Cotton cashmere v necks and v neck cardigans for £14.99!

And some very nice merino stuff (a sort of oversized waistcoaty thing - lovely for layering).

Also saw some lovely soft knitwear in H&M. Not as good as Uniqlo on the quality front. Bought a funky blue/cream striped asymmetric cardigan for £19.99 in a chunkyish cotton knit.

janeite · 18/02/2009 18:52

Will deffo go to Uniqlo on Oxford Street tomorrow. What were the colours like?

Will probably not go to H&M as it drives me batty.

H&M is a hellhole, I agree. I went to the Kensington High Street one, which isn't quite as bad ... but still bad.

Sometimes Uniqlo's colours are a bit ugh/meh (weird salmons etc) but today there was a nice selection (imho anyway). Black/grey/white/canary yellow/emerald green/shell pink/fuschia and some others ... purple I think. Nice! And soooo soft.

The merino sleeveless cardigany thing was available in black and a nice mid grey. It was pricier than the cotton cashmere stuff though.

And I did spot a linen/cotton mix sleeveless cardigany thing for £14.99 in a sludgy khaki/taupe shade. Lovely yarn but wasn't too keen on the colour and couldn't see it in any other colours.

janeite · 18/02/2009 19:39

Thanks.

Emerald green sounds a possibility, as does bright pink.

Khafi a definite no no for me: would look dead!
