The perfect 'slimming' tights

Being endowed of thigh (and tum and...), I have spent far, far too much of my life in the search for the perfect pair of tights which gives me a nice unbumpy silhouette under something clingy. Not clingy in the WAG sense, obviously.

Now I have found it. Bodysculpt shine high waist shaper tights from George. Absolute perfection and comfy, too. Holds everything in without just 'redistributing'.

Mind you, I'm living in dread that the wind blows my dress up, as I look like an extra from the tour de france underneath. Or as if I am wearing a Miss Mary of Sweden girdle. So, definitely not for those with passion in mind.

But I'm not proud and the results are great!

Ah, I like the M and S ones but they are £6 a pop and can roll down a little if you are between sizes. How much are the Asda ones?

shangrila · 13/02/2009 11:31

VGL - these too are £6 but no roll down.

Had them on now for 4.5 hours and still incredibly comfy. They're very like Donna Karan ones which are ££££ and sadly beyond my budget nowadays.

Thank you, I'll give them a go.

mejon · 13/02/2009 12:42

How high up do they come? I've got a funeral to go to on Monday and my only smart trousers are a bit snug and my 'magic pants' aren't quite high enough on my tum to cover that wobbly bit.

TheThoughtPolice · 13/02/2009 12:43

ROFL @ tour de france

shangrila · 13/02/2009 13:29

Mejon - To my shame, I can pull mine up to just under my bra, ensuring no unsightly rolls! Think this is just me being a bit over zealous though and don't think it's quite what the designer had in mind.

Sounds good to me Shangrila - I'll have a look tomorrow . Thanks!

MrsMattie · 13/02/2009 15:06

Ooh, thanks for the tip.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/02/2009 16:36

Ooh, tights that come up to the bra are good - looks like I'm off to Asda!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 13/02/2009 17:16

I want those tights!! Tell me, is the sizing accurate? I am extremely short of leg but find that I generally need the size larger than recommended on the packet for some reason.....cannot abide "toddler tights issues" (ie where the crotch starts to migrate south half way through the day).

And am PMSL at the Tour de France reference

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2009 17:29

LOL at 'toddler tights' Mrs JS!

eilidhsmum · 14/02/2009 12:10

I can second your recommendation. I have had these for a few weeks now - they are wearing well. No roll down, no sagging, no digging in, sizing pretty accurate too. I just wish they did them in other colours.

mejon · 14/02/2009 14:52

Well just got back from Asda. There were 2 pairs left on display - a small and one of indeterminite size but with what looked like the remains of a blue 'medium' sticker on it. Got what I thought was the medium. Get home and discover that they are actually a small. I've managed to slowly peel them on inch by tiny inch and they will be fine at a push as long as I don't have to use the toilet for a couple of hours. There's slight 'toddler tights issues' but a bit of discreet tugging gets a snug fit.

I don't really like thin tights so for extra glamour I shall be wearing socks over them (under trousers of course) !

shangrila · 14/02/2009 22:53

Sorry got sidetracked by a rugby weekend.

They are indeed snug. I am 5 feet 11, usually take a large in M&S tights and really had to shoehorn myself into a large. Nearly gave up half way through (mostly due to the snorting derision of DH). But it was worth it.

They survived a day, washed beautifully and are ready to do battle once more. Can't ask for more than that.

Hmm, well I went to Asda earlier and they don't have the right tights! I couldn't remember what they were called when we got there so bought what I thought sounded the closest to what you'd said - reading the thread again though I have the wrong thing. Bugger.

DH less than impressed at my excitement about bra-reaching tights. 'Mmm, that'll be sexy' was his exact comment! I told him it wasn't about what he thought, but about me feeling better about myself. He looked suitably chastised
