I need some help with trousers

I really need a pair of casual trousers to wear as an alternative to jeans. I have a pair of brown cords which I love, but they are seriously on their last legs and should really be worn for gardening only!
I don't want to spend loads as they will largely be worn for crawling about on the floor after my 7 month old, but they need to be respectable enough for going to mother and baby, friends for lunch/coffee etc.

The reason I'm struggling is that I'm a shortarse at 5'2", and a very curvy 18. I am addressing my weight (not much I can do about the lack of height ), but I need to look ok while I do it! I have only really seen combat-type trousers around, and feel that I'm a bit old to get away with them - am 31.

All ideas very gratefully accepted!!

hi, I am thirty and I have a pair of combat trousers. tend to wear them for shopping only though. I have bought some cords from Tesco's, they are really comfy, i wear them with trainers for the casual look and boots for a more formal look, they come with a nice belt as well. other than jeans i tend to wear black or brown trousers and either pumps or heels depending where i am going.

Thanks - we haven't got a Tesco that does clothes near here, I'll have to have a look on the website.
