I look like a parsnip in my denim pencil skirt...

I think

I wore it out yesterday but when I got home I caught a glimpse in the bigger mirror and got a distinct parsnip shape (you know, triangular on top, skinny down bottom).

Is it just because I'm used to wearing a-line skirts?

Or should I just give up on this look?

it's hard to say without knowing what size and hsape you are
I am a pear shape so thinks look better n me that flare out at the bottom, like bootleg jeans
skinny jeans and straight skits make my arse look huge

Well, pencil skirts are supposed to make you look curvy and voluptuous. "Parsnip" might be a rather harsh way of talking about yourself - but it does sound like the effect is the usual - and desired - one. I'm sure you look very nice indeed! Were you wearing heels?

HaventSleptForAYear · 11/02/2009 11:07

No I was wearing knee-high boots.

re: shape - according to T&Susannah I am a column - but my shoulders are quite wide.

I am reasonably petite otherwise - 8-10, 5ft4..

You can only resemble a parsnip if you have horixzontal wrinkles. Was this perhaps a case of a too tight pencil skirt....?

HaventSleptForAYear · 11/02/2009 13:17

No it's not THAT tight thank you!

Think inverted triangle!

I am sure it's fine. That's the shape they're meant to be isn't it?
