I use st tropez on my body, arms, face etc, I apply using latex gloves (buy big box from hardware store). I use a spray on my hands, just kind of claw your fingers and lightly spray over.

I don't rate St Tropez. I have found it very streaky and that it wears off patchily.

I use Clinique Self Sun (cream, not mousse). I apply it all over my body, then wash my hand thoriughly under a slow running tap (so no splashes!) and use a nail brush and plenty of soap, taking extra care around fingernails. then I pat hands dry on a towel and squeeze a small blob of fake tan on the back of each hand and rub the backs of my hands together and around my wrist area. Gives a light, unstreaky tanned effect. I have been doing this for years, though, so well practiced!

clawing the hand sounds a really good idea.
