Anyone know any good sites for junior prom/bridesmaid dresses ??

Most of the sites that come up are either american or they have very few to look at.

Have tried Monsoon but dd doesn't like any of them. Also tried Debenhams but all of their bridesmaid dresses are white which we didn't really want.

We have time to shop around as the prom isn't until July, but whatever we buy will almost certainly need altering as dd is a tall but very skinny 11 yr old.

Any ideas anyone ?

BHS?

SoupDragon · 09/02/2009 17:57

Ebay?

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:06

Ta Soupy. I have tried BHS but wasn't overly keen on any of them.

Ebay had hundreds but I am slightly wary of buying one from there. Might have to though.

If the worst comes to the worst we will actually have to go shopping for one and will half kill each other.
Dd has in her mind exactly what she wants and the only word I can use to describe it is tacky

google veromia, you can't buy their dresses online but you can view them and then contact one of their stockists.

SoupDragon · 09/02/2009 18:09

Give us the description then

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:13

Thanks Badabing will have a look.

I wil find you a link Soupy.

Here

It is just so erm tacky, isn't it ?? Or is it me ?

OP posts:
CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:16

This is alot nicer, but apprently isn't tacky enough.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 09/02/2009 18:16

It could be a lot worse!!

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:17

Oh she has picked worse believe me. Some of the ones she said 'ohhhh thats nice' too, I seriously thought she was being sarcastic.

Is that the kind of thing everyone's going to be wearing? Apart from the boys, obviously.

lisaofpalatine · 09/02/2009 18:19

my dd is getting hers from fairthgothmother.co.uk

very expensive - i have seen dresses on ebay that are made to measure ( from china) buy it now for £70 - but dd wants something that is going to cost 100's

she has been looking forward to this for years and its a huge right of passage in this part of the country.

lisaofpalatine · 09/02/2009 18:21

dd wants this here

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:21

I have no idea what anyone else is wearing Soupy, but they will probably be similar to what dd has picked yes.

She will more than likely get her way in the end tbh, but i would like to try and find something slightly less tacky lol.

Have just looked at the Veromia dresses, they are lovely. Think they might be a bit pricey but will ring up and ask as we do have a stockist not too far away.

This is for an 11 year old though.

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:22

Wow lisa, that is lovely, and expensive lol.

My driving instructor has just got her 16yr olds prom dress from America and paid £300 .

TK Maxx?

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:23

Well yeah Soupy, wasn't really thinking of that for dd1.

Dd2 is so much easier in this respect. Buy her a pretty dress and she'd just be so grateful that you got her something, she'd not care what it looked like lol.

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:23

Ah ha, I always forget TKMaxx, will definatly go there this week.

OP posts:
lisaofpalatine · 09/02/2009 18:24

yes tk maxx has some larvelly ones - and then all you have to so is get someone round to get it fitted properly - if you want

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:32

I think i will have to Lisa, because to get the length she needs she is going to have to have a dress for age 11-12 and there is no way that will fit her in the chest and waist.

I measured her the other day when we found a nice one on ebay, and her chest and waist measurements came up as age 6

I suspect that one might not look tacky in person. Although if you've already seen it in person please ignore me...

CrackerNut · 09/02/2009 18:50

Not see them in person no. You could be right I suppose.

Have just found a couple of nice ones on ebay so will see what she thinks of those when she gets in from Guides.
