does mineral makeup cover blackheads properly?

I am dithering over whether to try out some mineral makeup. But I have terrible skin, all hormonal with PCOS but also dehydrated and flaky. Yucky blackheads too. Does mineral makeup give enough coverage or would it just look cakey if I put loads on?

I wouldn't think it would cover blackheads. You need to get rid - you need watts - she's a MNer who has brilliant beauty advice.

Does she have special powers? Only magic would work on my skin. but also

She has special knowledge! Start a thread tomorrow asking for her - she'll sort you out!

Mine too. Magic, or a face transplant

Jux · 07/02/2009 23:32

(I meant for me, of course)

Wats is a Make Up Artist,CHA

CS is right - start a thread asking for her by name and she can advise you

I love this but have to admit it's not good if I get a dry patch of skin. Discovered this when had a strange effect around nose after 6 week cold over christmas!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/02/2009 23:37

Am off to bed now, but will ask for guru Wats tomorrow!! Not entirely convinced she could help me actually. Have battled for years with my skin.

Jux, a face transplant sounds good! Only mine would need to have a neck attachment too - a couple of weeks ago in bright sunshine I was HORRIFIED to notice the first signs of blackheads on my neck!!! This is despite me showering every day..... I think I might just have to go straight to the well-known paper bag method.

I have blackheads and bad skin in general and I've found mineral make up to be brilliant. I used Lilylolo and Bare Escentuals and both are great. Skin has been loads better since I started using it a year or two ago. In fact, when I occasionally use a normal foundation I really notice that my skin is loads worse the next day.
Get a good brush (kabuki). Keep it clean. Build up coverage. Make sure you cleanse and exfoliate your skin with something gentle like Liz Earle and use a good, simple moisturiser.

Thanks Christiana. I'll look into it. I'm quite a big fan of oil in general (face oils instead of moisturising creams). Never tried an oil cleanser though.
