Never thought I'd be posting in this one! But would I look like a prozzer in this or not?

I'm 37, but been told I don't really look it. I do have a very slim figure. I was looking for one of these in green after seeing someone on the telly wearing one and thinking it looked great (she was much older than me).

Now I'm worried that I'll look silly. What do you think, it's here

I like it. It's the sort of thing I would wear if I wasn't a fat bastard who got her clothes from Marquees R Us.

I'd wear it with jeans or bootleg trousers and a white cheesecloth shirt with wide sleeves.
Or with an ankle length skirt, boots and a nice shirt.

go on, tell me how horrible it is

Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 18:07

Aaaaaaaaaaah I see it now. Would prefer the shirts tbh.

lilacclaire · 07/02/2009 18:09

Sorry I was totally off track there, was thinking night out!

I'm sorry Rhu, I still think it's bloody awful

moondog · 07/02/2009 18:36

I think it's great.Very sexy.Like the idea of billowy sleeves under it.If ya got it, flaunt it.

Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 18:36

To be fair, it is the kind of top that if you like a similar style to Rhub, you will "get" and like, but if you are a more mainstream style it will look shit.

WEESLEEKITLauriefairycake · 07/02/2009 18:38

How about a nice long-sleeved shrug to go with it. It would give you a little more coverage. It would look lovely with jeans and some statement jewellery.

If you are very slight you will not look hookerish. I would look hookerish with it on as I am a 38H/J

Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 18:39

I am all about embracing hooker chic

moondog · 07/02/2009 18:42

I've got a top a bit like that in scarlet. With laces up t' front.
I wear it to go out and I'm 41.

Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 18:44

I am planning on my mate making me an under bust corset like this one when I can afford it!

Nontoxic · 07/02/2009 18:53

I think if you're someone whose style is very feminine and pretty - Victorian lady-ish - that would be lovely. I'm thinking of the sort of person who suits their hair up with romantic tendrils hanging down.
If you're someone who should be wearing an Audrey Hepburn-type shift dress, or a dramatic jacket with a sharp collar, it would look dreadful.
See an image consultant and find out which styles suit you.
I suspect if you already have a corset thingy, they probably are your style. In which case, go all out for the 'saloon girl' look - a bit of lace trim, laced up boots, velvet choker -you know the sort of thing.

Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 18:53

Well, I might bid on it then. Maybe even wear it to a Mumsnet meet-up one day? But don't hold yer breath!

10 out of 10 for thread title!

Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 18:54

Erm, non-toxic, no, I'm more rock chick with a bit of victorian flair maybe. I like Kate Moss's stuff because she has the same figure I do, so I have waistcoats and skinny jeans etc. Thought this would look nice too.

Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 18:55

I'm too Northern to be floaty.

Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 18:56

Seeing as I had my norks poked all night due to the corset, it seems to go down well with meet up-ers.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 07/02/2009 19:01

Rhubarb, I'm 37 and slim but not thin (size 10 to 12) and I have to be honest, I wouldn't wear that.

Nontoxic · 07/02/2009 19:04

Rock-chicks can still have a Victorian vibe. I bet you'd suit a bit of lace here and there ( and, not that it really matters, but isn't lace in atm?)

Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 19:05

this is more the kind of thing, but it's too big. No, I don't 'do' lace, sorry!

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 07/02/2009 19:08

Now that i don't like

SobranieCocktail · 07/02/2009 19:09

Oh Yes Rhubarb - do it! That's a v v good look on slim build folk IMO. Gives an illusion of curves. Can look a bit dodgy if you have an ample bust (which I assume you don't).

Nontoxic · 07/02/2009 19:11

Forgot to say, if ypu're a redhead you shouldn't even entertain wearing black.

Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 19:17

Flamey, it's not as fitted as I would like and I wouldn't buy it, but if you can imagine that crossed with the corset then you have my top!

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 07/02/2009 19:17

Why shouldn't I wear black?
