Help me replace my lovely black cords please?

Fell over on the ice today and ripped my favourite black cords They were long length (I've got 34" inside leg) fine needlecord, slightly bootcut (big bum and hips, can't do skinny fit) and I loved them. They were from Dorothy Perkins of all places and they were really flattering. Can anyone help me find something similar to replace them please?

I bought 2 pairs from Zara last year - one black one olive green. And you know Zara are long in the leg (good for me) not sure if they are doing them again this winter though, you would have to go in and check.

Tesco are quite good - and cheap - but the zip goes fairlyl soon, so iif you like them get 2 pairs!

nickschick · 05/02/2009 19:46

I got a fab pair in m&s 3 years ago ....

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 19:47

Are Zara really long in the leg jewels? I've always found them to be really tiny, I guess they're made for Spanish women who are generally much smaller than us.

I'll check out Tesco 1234, thanks.

Any other takers?

white stuff do 34" leg cords, not sure if they have black though

NellieTheEllie · 05/02/2009 19:53

Got some cords just like you described from Fat Face recently. I love them - so comfy.
They do short, regular and long leg length.

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 19:54

Bugger! The M&S ones aren't available in my size... pah! Still hunting......

another vote for Zara ... they used to do a basics range where the trousers were all over-long so I am sure they would cover your 34" inside leg!

Jewelsandgems · 05/02/2009 19:57

The Zara ones are really long (I usually take a 34/35 inside leg and can only wear the zara cords with heels) but agree the waist sizes can be small. I have the size S which are a 10 (had no chance of fastening the XS!)

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 20:03

Hmmm, shame I can't have a look at the zara one's online, but to be honest I'm a bit doubtful of their sizing, even if they're long enough I doubt I could get my huge bum in to them, I'm a size 16 so I think they're probably too small for me.

I'm still hunting......

ha, I went into Zara once and tried on a 16, and I got such a look from the snobby bitch in the changing room when I handed them back and said they didn't fit.. she just looked at me like I was scum!

Oh, and I was a 16 btw... Zara is small sized.

onlywantsone · 05/02/2009 20:08

I saw some in Next today, they do them in long sizes too x

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 20:10

Hmm sheeta, that's what I feel about Zara, I love their children's clothes but I think I'm far too big for their women's clothes.

I can't see any on the Next website onlywantsone, but I'll look again. I wear their jeans a lot because they're long enough for me and pretty good value so hopefully their cords are good too.

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 20:14

ooo hadn't thought of monsoon and debs duckyfuzz, thanks. Off to check....

That's a no to Monsoon and Debs but that's just online, I can always go in to the shops during my lunch break tomorrow.

Have you tried ebay?

I had bought a pair of shoes from Next about 3 years ago that I loved so much I wore them till they fell of my feet.

In desperation to find something similar I looked on ebay and eventually found the exact same pair, new, from an ex-chain store seller.

MorocconOil · 05/02/2009 21:01

If you have a John Lewis near by, they have a concession called Great Plains who do good cords. I've also had several pairs from H&M.

HeadFairy · 05/02/2009 21:19

I'm a bit ashamed to admit this notquitenormal, but I'm a total ebay virgin. Something about it freaks me out.

I have got a JL nearish to me mimizan (the rather fabulous Peter Jones - not the Dragons' Den version) will try to make an excuse to go up there and have a look. Thanks

At risk of sounding really cheap...
I have 2 pairs of Sainsbury's TU fine cords, black and olive. Paid about £12 a pair. They come short/regular/long. They have a little elastane in. They are very comfortable and they are really holding their colour.

Ruby2shoes · 06/02/2009 18:25

Great Plains - very long in the leg and a good fit.

callalilies · 06/02/2009 19:36

I was in a similar position desperate to replace some well-loved French Connection brown cords, eventually found a brilliant pair in Principles.

Hang on will see if they are still there and if they come in black..

No apparently not, no cords on their website now. Maybe in store though?
