what's the difference between moisturiser and balm?

as an older mum my skin is quite dry and have thought about using balm instead of moisturiser, but not sure if you can use all the time, ie. daily - does anyone know about it?
have seen a neals yard rose balm which looks lovely!

I'd say the difference is probably about £10.
It's just a posh name isn't it?

If her skin is dry (mine is sandpaper) she needs a heavy duty moisteriser (I often wear night cream instead of day cream for example_

The Neal's Yard rose balm, if it's the one in a tube- is quite nice but it wasn't moisterisery enough for my skin. I can heartily recommend NY Frankinsense Moisteriser though- it's fabulous.

(when my skin is really dry I slop good old blue nivea on it, or lather it in vaseline.)
