have you ever complained about the girl who has washed your hair at the hairdressers?

for the third time in a row she has been rough, soaked the sides of my face and generally been a bit crap overall.

I want to say something to my hairdresser (franchise owner) but don't know if that's a bit mean.

i hate it when they are rough
one reason i go to toni and guys even though it costs £silly, because their trainees wash your hair nicely
i found a great hairdresser who came to the house, very cheap, did lovely cut and colour etc
then came to waash it out OH MY GOD
it hurt so much - she was so rough! i have lots of long hair so was really uncomfortable - brought tears to my eyes - and she got water all over my face and down my neck

back to toni and guys for me

I wouldn't complain. Usually they are only young girls, training and get a pittance pay.
If it was me I wouldn't complain...

Its not like its everyday you go....

yeh feel a bit mean complaining but if no one tells her she'll never change will she?

Yeah if she is a trainee she needs to know - better than getting bitched at by someone horrible some day.

TheProvincialLady · 30/01/2009 19:31

You could always ask her beforehand to be gentle and careful not to splash you - then if she manages it properly give her a tip and she'll do it properly forever more in anticipation of another tip.

brimfull · 30/01/2009 19:38

good idea provincial lady

I did ask her too forego the 'indian head massage' as my neck was a bit sore, hoping that would make her gentler.Did not work though.

I wouldn't complain, I would hint.

They probably know she isn't very good. You could try asking for someone else next time? Make it bit obvious and exchange a sympathetic 'look'.

I have mentioned in the past when the girl washing my hair has soaked me - they're learning so i think need feedback.

I do it in a pleasant way though.

TheFirstLiffey · 30/01/2009 19:50

I would just say to her, "Can you be a lot more gentle please?"

They need feedback. Annoying for you, but at least she'll know why you didn't tip her!!

BonsoirAnna · 30/01/2009 19:51

No, but I have complained about the girl who dried my hair and who persistently burnt my scalp and pulled my hair. I got 50% off my bill.

Shhhh · 30/01/2009 19:59

thing is she won't be a trainee forever thus won't often wash hair so not an issue iykiwm...

Not every one is good in all areas..yeah its whats she training to do BUT she may be a wizz at hair cutting

trixymalixy · 30/01/2009 20:09

I felt like complaining about the girl who washed my hair last time. she had such long fingernails that she had to splay her fingers so she hardly touched my scalp at all and then she scratched me.

Then the hairdresser said "oh your hair is a bit longer than i initially thought, it'll be an extra £5 than i said"

I said that as i wanted her to chop a good bit off before she started then it wouldn't be that long once she got round to styling it.

she said "that's a restyle which is an extra £5 anyway"

WTF!!!!!

i didn't have much choice as it was 4pm on Saturday with a party to go to so i just paid it and said i was never going back.

Serves me right for phoning up on the off chance on a saturday morning. no wonder they had space for me when the others didn't!!!!!
